    Cable Break-In

Since there have been a few posts about building cables, and since building cables is, perhaps, one of the easiest ways to get into DIY, consider this essay by George Cardas that I just ran across today: http://www.cardas.com/content.php?ar...Cable+Break-In He discusses cable break-in and...

    What's up with CPUs?

You know, I'm a pretty computer literate guy - I design memory modules for a big electronics company, so you'd think that I'd know something about this, but I'll admit it - I'm clueless. I'm going to buy a notebook computer. Now in the good old days (like a couple of years ago), the choice of...

New virtual ground circuit causing pops?

I recently started building my CMoy amps with a virtual ground circuit like the one that Tangent describes on his web site: Since I had a bunch of them on hand, I used two 680uF caps rail-to-rail. Overkill, of course. Here's the interesting problem. With the caps in the circuit, about...

My meter shows that one of the rectifier diodes is shorted which makes sense since only one fuse is blowing. I can't seem to get any answers from Carver's repair service -...

Another New Pimeta (Big images, I think)

Another new Pimeta! The 50K stepped attenuator is from kyc111 on Ebay, the opamps are 637/627, Vishay resistors, Cardas (I think) RCA jacks, Neutrik headphone jack and the case...um...I can't remember where I got the case. It's from an aluminum extrusion company and if anybody recognizes it...

PPA is oh so close to finished! (Big pictures)

My new PPA with the STEPS power supply is finished enough to listen to! I'm just waiting on the other nine buffers and a pot for the variable bass boost, then it's done! With just one buffer per channel, it still sounds absolutely wonderful! It's in a Par-Metal case. The LEDs...
