    Emotiva Stealth DC-1 DAC

I had emailed Emotiva inquiring into the headphone amp specifications, and they have kindly sent the following, which I am going to assume is ok to post here:     Keith Levkoff replied: These were run manually on the AP, so you don't get a pretty formatted report.... (I'll be posting them...

Comparisons: 36 of the Top Closed/Portable Headphones Around

Ironically, I just read a post over in the NAD HP50 thread from a Sig Pro owner saying the $300 HP50 sound better than his Sig Pros.

Comparisons: 36 of the Top Closed/Portable Headphones Around

For me, portable is any headphone I can use at work with my FiiO X3.  It shouldn't leak much if any sound, shouldn't look too ridiculous when worn, and should be comfortable to wear for at least a couple of hours at  a time.  In my experience, that mostly means full sized circumaural...

Comparisons: 36 of the Top Closed/Portable Headphones Around

Wow, you had me ready to order the Sig Pro on the spot, until somebody mentioned the price a few posts later.

Comparisons: 36 of the Top Closed/Portable Headphones Around

Speaking of funny looking headhpones and the new NAD HP50; as somebody pointed out there seems to be a lack of photos going around yet of pictures of people wearing them.  However, there is a short French language video on Youtube in which the reviewer does put them on.    It became apparent...

Shure announcing new SRH1540 in Tokyo today! - Head-Fi TV

My Senn. HD650s have a relaxed treble.  If you boost the treble, it does get louder, but still doesn't sound fully alive or accurate as you are still missing that sense of attack from say the sound of a snare drum for example. So I am curious to know how the Shure 1540 does in that regard.  And...

    Sony MDR-7520

I also suffer from my left ear generally hitting headphone grills.  Have you tried the simple solution of increasing the depth of the earpads by sticking some cloth or rope or foam etc. under the pads thus forcing them out and giving you greater depth in the ear cup?  I just did that...

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?

You don't have to look too far back in this thread to see that rpaul has reported both of the issues I mentioned.  There is a similar review up on Amazon.  So, despite the fact that you personally find them comfortable, doesn't make any discussion about said issues any less valid.

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?

I am perplexed by their headband design - considering they apparently spent many many hours in the laboratory coming up with the Room Feel tuning, you would think they could at least have put in a little effort into maximizing comfort.   I mean if it is meant to emulate the experience of...

Shure announcing new SRH1540 in Tokyo today! - Head-Fi TV

Looking forward to reviews.  Particularly interested in how they compare to other closed circumaural headphones.

    The Fiio X3 Thread.

I am happy to report that the Senn HD650s sound excellent, no make that AWESOME, with the X3. With high gain I only need to set the volume in the 22-25 range to get a full impact-full sound with super imaging. I really can't image the HD650s doing a better job with a different amp or dac, but...

    Sony MDR-7520

Thanks for all the great information on these headphones Starfly.  I am trying to understand the comfort issue you describe. Is it because the pads aren't deep enough and the cloth on driver grills is touching your ears, or are you talking about the cloth on the pads themselves that is...

    Ultra comfortable headphones?

I am on the same search for ultra comfortable closed headphones for work.  I currently have the Fostex T50RP but it suffers from comfort issues after about an hour due to the shallowness of the earpads.  Also it lacks impactful bass.  More often I use the KOSS TBSE DJ1000s.   They do fit...

Shure announcing new SRH1540 in Tokyo today! - Head-Fi TV

Thanks for the detailed response Gelocks.  Without going into too many details I am looking to upgrade my work headphones (currently Fostex T50RP and KOSS TBSE DJ1000s) to a superior sounding closed around-ear headphone with great "holographic" type sound stage and super comfortable.  From...

Shure announcing new SRH1540 in Tokyo today! - Head-Fi TV

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I am wondering what, besides Carbon Fiber bling these $500.00 SRH1540s will bring, compared to the recent $200.00 32 Ohm Beyerdynamic dt770s? (A closed headphone that is said to be extremely comfortable as well).  I am looking for a good closed set of...

    The Fiio X3 Thread.

All 3 categories are working fine for me with 2.05.  However, at the same time I also had added more files to the external card.  When I then tried to update the library, all of the categories had disappeared.  I had to delete the Library file (Instructions for doing that are in the X3 PDF...

    Best under $2K DACs

Thanks for the tip RD.  That RME Fireface UCX certainly has a nice large range of useful features above and beyond a typical home audiophile type DAC.  I was seriously considering it as an all-in-one unit to replace an aging E-MU 0404usb, until I got down to the technical specs and for the...

    The Fiio X3 Thread.

I can't update right now since I am at work, but am curious to know if the problem where it can only read 2 folder levels deep when adding to the library was addressed with this firmware update?  Or is that just a permanent feature I wonder?

Review: NuForce DAC-80 - replacement for the DAC-100 (same sound, lower price)

Thanks for another detailed, yet smooth review Project86!  One technical question comes to mind: If you are using both the DAC-80 and HAP-100 are they independent as far as the remotes go? For example if you use the HAP-100 remote to turn down the volume, does it then (annoyingly) also turn down...

    Help Understanding the Differences in Audio-gd DAC's (17.32, 1.32, and 5.32)

Has anyone heard, or know anything about the new Audio-GD NFB-3 (384K) DAC ?  It uses "32bit/384K dual DA chips", but the product description doesn't give much to go on of what to expect for the sound character compared to the other Audio-GD DACs for example.
