Monster Turbine Appreciation Thread
Quote: I've got this problem, too. The Turbine tips either don't fit at all or do fit and hurt. I was using my Thinksound Rain's large tips simply because they were comfortable, but they didn't sound great. Then I remembered that I had a few pair of T-400s tucked away and...- Wenglish

Thinksound Thunder & Rain IEM Reviews – The Eco-Friendly IEM (or More Wood) - NOTE: Thunder will be renamed TS01
Quote: Pseudo disclaimer: I prefer full sized phones while at home or at work. Recently, however, I've been on the more and more, using my PK3s. They met an inquisitive kitten at my mother's house and, well, are no more. So I had to get a set of portable phones, and decided to go...- Wenglish

Alas, I hate work. Truly. I can't change the schedule (tried) and can't get anyone to cover for me (tried)--and I'm scheduled to work Friday night into Saturday and Saturday night into Sunday. Which makes my current schedule: Friday 10PM to Sat 6AM: Work Sat 6 to 8 AM: Get home, SSS...- Wenglish

Opeth and Dream Theater, others?
I can't help but also recommend Pain of Salvation. I don't think Scarsick is a good representation--starting anywhere else, however, is a good idea. More along the prog-rock line, give Beardfish a spin. They got dropped (along with PoS) from the PN09 Tour, sadly. I've thoroughly enjoyed... -
New Dream Theater - Black Clouds & Silver Linings review
I'm still split on Shattered Fortress. It's a nice capstone to the suite and all, but how would it sound to someone who didn't have a point of reference for all the old material in the song? It sounds a bit disjointed to me as it is, I'd have to figure it'd be downright confusing for someone who... -

New Dream Theater - Black Clouds & Silver Linings review
Well, I'm on my third attempt at the album. I couldn't sit through it the first time and was too tired/fell asleep the second time. Production wise I can't complain. I think I've heard a little distortion here and there, nothing obnoxious though. For the most part I'm digging the... -

ATH W1000 disappointment
I found the stock W1000s to be a bit picky. Amp/source/actual music. Some albums worked, some didn't. Doing the Fitz mod to them brought out a lot of bass over stock and made them a little more versatile, imo. Switching from the EF1 (which is supposed to shine with low impedance cans) to a...- Wenglish

Why does Punk Rock get praised by critics while Metal gets bashed?

Full size headphones & sleeping
I have been known to pass out from time to time, regardless to what's on my head. I try not to make a habit out of it, especially when I'm wearing headphones. When I'm making a concerted effort to go to sleep, I don't care how the music sounds. In fact, having too good of music makes it too...- Wenglish

Roadtrip music
The last time I drove from NJ to CA to NJ I did it on a steady diet of blues, rock, and metal. Not a chronological trip, although that would have been interesting. For 'real' trips it's pretty much a guarantee that Riding With the King will be played at some point and Rainbow's Rising will... -

A DIY electrostatic amp for intermediate DIYers?
The progress of this thread/evolution of ideas was very interesting to read through. Color me very interested in this amp. I just wish I had something more substantial than that to add.- Wenglish

New Dream Theater - Black Clouds & Silver Linings review
I'm going to hold off on downloading a copy, despite having a pre-order in. I, too, am hoping that this album breaks from the formula--some bands I listen to because I want to hear the same old thing, just with a slightly different chord progression. Prog bands are not on that list, or at... -
