interesting, you think that I could get away with a CX380 instead? Since I own a pair of Westone 3s, my CX500s are really just my work-out headphones. The CX 380s would be a much more useful headphone for me and they're actually a little cheaper than the CX500s. Okay, last question...

Thanks, that's some useful advice. At the moment I'm still trying to find my receipt. After I do, I'll be sure to send them an email and hope for the best. It might be worth it for me to invest in CX380s anyway so that I have something more suited for working out.

Well, thanks everyone, this has been very helpful. I don't think I'll be buying a mustang after all, which is great news for my wallet. In a somewhat unrelated question, how much space do you think 7000 256kb/s songs would take up? Probably about 60GB, right?

That's really a shame. Most of my music is lossless, though. truth be told I can't hear a difference, but I'm really just future proofing so that I don't have to re-burn all my CDs if I notice a difference down the road. sounds like the classic is just not a good enough source for an amp...
