    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

Maybe not crazy but is there something wrong with your hearing perhaps? I will gladly swap mine for yours in a trade  Every single phone I own and have owned in the past has more bass presence than my dt48 which is totally mid centric. In some cases it's not even a close race....even with...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

Welcome to the club, sling5s! Glad others are enjoying them as much as I am. I wrote a lot about the dt48 mids a few years back. When I was in high school I played in jazz bands and orchestras, and the dt48 comes closest of any phone I’ve heard....and I’ve heard some good ones..,,of reproducing...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

Those are the ones I have as well. Been listening a lot lately with my O2 amp and the mids are the best I’ve heard. Even more important, the timbre sounds spot on compared to a lot of other phones. Should I mention the k700 series? Probably best not to ;)

    Pads for for akg k702

Thanks Me x3, but that price is really outrageous for a set of ear pads. Well over 100 bucks USD for ear pads? Wow....a dollar doesn't buy much in Germany anymore, that's for sure. I noticed the price of some mics made in Germany has gone way up here in the US too. I paid 135 USD for my hd580's...

    Pads for for akg k702

Thanks Monsterzero! I suspect my 240DF needs a more powerful amp then the O2. But I doubt I’d be happy with the 702 no matter how I amped them. I knew right away, when I first heard the hd580 that they did vocals better than the 702. Of course this is totally subjective. I’m aware that many...

    Pads for for akg k702

No, but I’ve wanted to for a long time. But I’ve stuck with the 240S because I can use them with my iPhone. I used to love the k240DF , but I found it too sibilant and revealing of bad recordings. Also, it is really power hungry. Since I like the k240S, I’m sure I’d like the sextet...probably...

    Pads for for akg k702

Thanks much for the feedback. I guess I was hoping for too much. I was listening to some classic rock and jazz last night and I realized that, for casual listening, I prefer my old k240S over the k702. They’re warmer, with a fuller midrange. Kind of odd to prefer a phone that’s 1/3 the price...

    Pads for for akg k702

Anyone have experience with the Dekoni replacement pads for the 701 or 702? I’m wondering how they would effect the sound signature. I read somewhere that they would increase the bass. If they would reduce the treble spike a bit that would also be a plus....as well as making the mids a bit...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

No, the DT48A is specifically mentioned in the literature that was included in the box, as the audio metric version of the dt48. It was still available when the set I purchased was manufactured. Plus they came with the thin, floppy pads. I put the pads from my old set over those and added some...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

Been listening to old Billie Holiday recordings as well as Maria Callas singing Puccini tonight and comparing the DT48 to my HD580. They both are amazing with vocals, but with these two singers I think I prefer the DT48. At least how it portrays the voice. The DT48 comes closest in my memory to...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

Please do share! And how the two models compare....to one another....and to other phones and/or speakers you've heard. I'm still having trouble adjusting to the very weak bass. They make my AKG 240DF sound like warm and full bass monsters in comparison.....and that's not normally how I'd...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

From what I read, it seems some of the older DT 48e's omitted the 'e'. It's also got a flat straight cable, as opposed to a coiled, round one. I don't know if the cable helps date it. I'm noticing lots of details in some songs I've been listening to that I never noticed before. Very revealing...

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

Here's the original box with the insert. On the reverse side of the insert are the specs. It's clearly got a different logo than the newer version.

    The Beyerdynamic DT48 Arrives...

IDK....I thought the newer version has a single sided cable entry and a coiled cord, but I'm no expert here. This set also has those horrible floppy...flimsy...ear pads. I put some newer pads on top of those. Someone can perhaps tell the approximate age from the Beyerdynamic logo.

There were only 2 bids and I got them for $82....pretty much of a steal. They look like they've never been used....pristine...

Can anyone date these vintage dt48's?

https://www.head-fi.org/gallery/photo/1873186/ https://www.head-fi.org/gallery/photo/1873187/ Of course I don't expect the exact year, but perhaps the decade? I assume they're vintage because of the double entry cable and the older Beyerdynamic logo. I just picked them up on ebay for $82 and...

    The Beyerdynamic DT250 Thread

I agree with plakat. The dt250 has plenty of bass for the genres I listen to....classic rock, acoustic, and jazz. In fact I think mine may have just a bit too much mid bass to be strictly neutral. But whether neutral or a bit too heavy handed, mine are definitely not bass shy.

Best headphones for listening to jazz vocalists??

Wow....really old thread but I had to throw my $.02 on  this comment. I used to feel exactly the same about the dt48 and Sarah Vaughan and Norah Jones(not a jazz singer but great singer none the less). It sounds like they're sitting right next to you singing into your ear with the Beyer DT48...

The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages

I'll have to do a more careful listen and compare the dt250 out of the e10 with the dt250 paired with my o2 amp. They sound quite good out of the e10 however the O2 is obviously a better amp.

    The Beyerdynamic DT250 Thread

Yes, agree, definitely underrated, donunus. I had the 80 ohm version a few years ago and sold it because at the time I didn't need a closed headphone and I preferred the k240DF for most of my listening.  Been following this thread, and I finally was able to snag a used set of the 250ohm...

The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages

Have your hearing tested or do a sine wave sweep. See if you can hear 20,000hz. I know I can't nor do I have a desire to. What voice or musical instrument goes that high?  Unless you're a dog you're not hearing anything above it anyway fwir.

The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages

That's one of the reasons I bought the e10k as well ...for casual listening I don't have to connect my gamma1, then plug that into the O2, and then plug the O2 into the wall outlet to charge it.
