@xdobermanx Not sure which Amazon review you mean? Was it the Fiio E17? I didn't buy my se530s from Amazon, thus no review. That said, I don't really know what you're saying (or why I'm replying, tbh).- barneypooch

I don't think I could have been more respectful, or careful of others' opinions than I was in my review. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear. As I said toward the end of my review, I'm not sure how the star rating on head-fi is supposed to work. Is it a measure of ultimate performance, or is it a...- barneypooch

@chimmycham Hi, can you say where/how they improved? There's a lot about them I do like. Might be worth burning in for a bit longer...- barneypooch

Review by 'barneypooch' on item 'Sennheiser HD 598'
Most of my at-home listening is done via speakers, but if I'm in bed and not wanting to disturb the rest of the house, I have Shure SE 530s, via the laptop or a Sansa Clip. However, I've never been particularly in love with the Shures, which have spent most of their life in their case. I'd...- barneypooch

I.D. Parade!
Thanks for the help, guys. X-1 Grand Slamm, I'm thinking, and the front end is definitely Krell. I found out a bit more about the owner (or non-owner, as it turns out). The local high-end audio dealer has the system set up at the house to demo it to potential customers. The home...- barneypooch

I.D. Parade!
Hi guys, My hi-fi identifying skills aren't what they were , so I could use some help. My mum just went to stay with a friend whose hubby, as she said, was "into hi-fi". I'll say he is! My rusty skills tell me this is an all-Krell front end with Wilson Maxx speakers. But I'm sure someone...- barneypooch

SE530s purchased - thanks everyone!
I'd be embarrassed to tell how many speakers have passed my way over the years, simply because they had a "flashy" sound signature. After a couple of weeks I always regretted my decision - and took the financial hit. I finally realised it's the subtle ones that win the day. And ain't that...- barneypooch

SE530s purchased - thanks everyone!
Just got me a pair of SE530s, largely due to all you wunnerful peeps! I'm really thrilled with them. My only other 'phones are Stax Lambda Pro and hand on heart I prefer these little Shures (at one sixth the cost). Why? Well, number one is that the Stax make my ears sweaty and also you have to...- barneypooch
