Completely agree on it being a waste to run the i4s direct from a phone, was merely making the point that it is possible and that it will sound fine, just not nearly up to their potential.

I got my REI direct from Cozoy and I think it is a great little piece of kit. I have been working on a full review, but have posted impressions over in the rei thread. Generally, with low impedance iems or headphones (including isines, i4s, and Mr. Speakers Aeons), I find it comes within a whisper of the level of performance soundwise as my mojo, but it is something with the footprint essentially the same as 2 housekeys stacked on top of one another. The mojo provides a little bit better instrument separation, airiness, and soundstage (and obviously has more power), but the REI is pretty much on par in terms of bass and treble extension, and quality, midrange sweetness, and musicality. Like the mojo, the REI is almost never shrill in the treble while still maintaining detail, and in the REI may even be a bit more "fun" than the mojo in some tracks. Given how tiny the REI is, the fact that it doesnt have a battery, minimally affects battery life on my iPhone 7 plus and that it works out of the iPhone without a cck, it is pretty great. I've stuck a flat fridge magnet on the back of my rei which makes it stick to the back of my iphone (I have a metal plate on my phone for a magnetic car mount), and end up with a rig that in my pocket is indistinguishable in size from my iPhone itself and sound quality that out performs my dragonfly red or Oppo ha-2. With the i4s, I have to turn the volume up to about 70-80% to get it to what I would consider loud, but it definitely can drive them louder than I would want to listen to them. Again, the mojo provides a bit better instrument separation and a larger soundstage, so for the i4s, which I don't use as much while I'm walking around I am reaching for it more than my REI. But for what the REI is, what you get is shockingly good.

Thanks for the feedback on the REI. I'm in the US and a little hesitant to order directly from Cozoy and the company they have listed as their distributor in the US only has a facebook page. Where are you located and how long did it take for you to get them? Did you try it with any sensitive IEM's or just the iSINE. On the move I'm pleased with the cypher cable through my iphone SE or Mojo w/ standard cable for the iSINES but have been eyeing the REI for CA's Andromedas. They're a pain to match aside from a few DAPs.

I'm in Washington, DC and it took about a week and a half to two weeks for them to arrive from Cozoy. I had a bunch of questions that I asked them before ordering and they were super responsive over email (and their English was great, so no language issues). Massdrop also had the rei up a few months ago.

I have primarily used the rei with my Noble encores, which are very very sensitive and the background out of the REI is dead quiet (it's actually a blacker background than my mojo). With the nobles, the REI sounds great and has more than enough power. I briefly listened to some campfire vegas out of the rei at a meet and it drove them well I thought.

Does any of the california dealers have the full line headphones and iems for us to audition? Better yet @Audeze do you guys have a show room at your facility where we can audition all of your headphones? I wouldn't mind taking a nice ride down PCH to go listen to some nice gear.
Yes, next month this should be possible in our new facility. Initially we plan to have visitors by appointment.

To any readers that are just curious and on a super budget but still want to see what type of experience the iSine gives, start with VE's Monk for like USD$5. Then move on to the Monk candy 4wire if you find one, then you got the Zen 300ohm which further adds the bass aspect.

Audiovision in SF seems to have a pretty good selection of Audeze, although I don't know if it's everything in the line. I demo'd the iSine 10 and 20 there. (And bought the 20)

I remember really liking the my iSine 10 when I first got them. More recently I found they seem to lack bass and I joined the voices saying they need some added EQ to satisfy in the bass dept.

The other day I used them after some time off and just thinking this can't be right. Messing with them I noticed the rubber tips had slid up above the lip on the the nozzle. Apparently this caused it to not seal well (either on the nozzle, my ear or both), after fixing this BAM... that wonderful sound has returned and the bass wonderful again. I still add a little bass on my phones LG V20 and Axon 7, but not as much not nearly as much as I was prior.

It probably happened from giving the iSine a twist after putting them in. Maybe other might be helped by checking their tips for proper fitment.

Been on the fence about getting an isine because of the sound difference between cipher and 3.5mm cables. Tyll at innerfidelity just put the isine 20 on his wall of fame but only the cipher version. I do not own any apple products and have no plans on owning any in the future. If Audeze creates an isine with the cipher tuning using the 3.5mm cable then I will buy that in a heartbeat. I'm sure some others would agree with me. I know there have been EQs posted to get a similar sound to the ciphers but then i would have to set that up on every device I use it with and if I want to use a different set of headphones I'd have to disable the EQ then re-enable if I switch back. Just too much hassle. Looking for a plug and play experience. Just my 2 cents.

Personally I wouldn't let the whole Apple thing stop you from buying it. I would never use an iPhone myself I have the isine 10 and they sound good connected directly to my Galaxy S8 Plus depending on which player you use you can change the EQ settings if you like. I generally play them off my Fiio x5 2nd gen and they sound very good with this DAP you can also change the eq settings if you like. Playing off my hifime sambre 9018 with a usb extension and HF player it also sounds very good.

I bought a used iPod Touch for 20 bucks to test out and I'm waiting for my Cipher cable to arrive from Audeze but honestly I I'm not expecting much of a difference compared to my fiio and hifime but I am interested to find out :)

Bottom line I would not let the whole apple thing stop you from buying them - they are great !!

IMHO The use of the lightning cable or i -device, as well as EQing, is strictly optional. My 10's sound pretty amazing with any DAP I have paired them with running Flat EQ.

Playing with frequency bands is just seasoning to taste.

I enjoy using both the cipher and 3.5mm cables and I don't have a preference of one over the other. I still use EQ on both cables to tailor the sound to the way I want it.

I rather own a great headphone that responds well to EQ to match with anything I throw at it than own a headphone that is crap to EQ and awesome for only a genre or two. Just happens the iSINE 20 is pretty awesome as is and Only needs just a bit of bump in the bass for me.

I highly recommend getting a decent amp with a good bass boost switch. I'm currently enjoying my Onkyo DP-S1 and Topping NX1s combo with the iSINE 20. Extremely small stack and great bass.
