Best all-round basshead full size headphone under 150$?
The interesting thing with hifi headphones are the price; they can change dramatically. As of right now, Beyerdynamics DT 990 pro is your best bet ($160 on amazon, I got mine for 240...) if you enjoy a pair of very detailed headphones with a slightly recessed mid, but a wonderful (albeit...- zman0225

Anyone find DT990 Premium uncomfortable?
I have 990 250ohms. They can get uncomfortable when you wear them for a very prolonged period of time (5hr +). If you are talking sonically, they can get a little bright and the highs might seem not as detailed as you want it to be. the 250ohms and the 600ohms (especially) require amplification...- zman0225

Grado GS1000 for 600, should I take it?
Quick question, I have the opportunity to make buy the GS1000 for 600, should I take it? Also, why is the GS1000 not as popular as some of the other headphones in the same price range? Thanks in advance.- zman0225

Amateur looking to spend around $1k for headphone/IEM + AMP+DAC
Quote: I see. I am not adamant about spending $1000, if you think that I should go with the Mad Dog, what amp/dac should I go with?- zman0225

Amateur looking to spend around $1k for headphone/IEM + AMP+DAC
Quote: Hmm, based on general consensus, the TH600 seems to be very flat. Also, would anyone suggest HD700? I've heard that its soundstage is incredible. I'll hold up on the amp/dac suggestions, since that seems to change base on the flavor or headphones.- zman0225

Amateur looking to spend around $1k for headphone/IEM + AMP+DAC
Hey all, Before I start, I know there are a lot of posts like these; however, none of them really gave the specific suggestions that I wanted. I have around $1k budget this summer and need suggestions on the BEST combo in your opinion, please give me your reasons. I am currently...- zman0225

DIY shell making / re-shell guide (w/ some pictures) + NEW finished CIEM pics
Quote: Thanks. I'll keep this updated. First pair, I'll admit was too ambitious. I've made a pair of faux-three way, 5 ba (I have updated/edited at the end of my post). The sound was pretty good - detailed, punchy bass and forward mids. The highs were a bit disappointing, probably a...- zman0225

Home-Made IEMs
Lovely that I get to bump this thread up. I've made a set of non-hollow (toxic) CIEM that I am going to recycle. I'm planning to attempt a pair of hollow shells first though. Are there any cheap silicone for the initial investment process (I'd rather not redo impressions)? I will work directly...- zman0225

Any links on intro to driver crossover design?
Hey all, I am just able to complete a pair of CIEMs (Santa, the name of my wallet, has been quite gracious this year) and I was wondering if there were any links to either pages or books that could lead my life as audio neophyte into a professional (or rather, more knowledgeable)...- zman0225
