from my personal experience, I liked the 7236 more than 5998 with the HD650. With HD800, I liked the 5998 more

What headphones are you using? From my experience, the 5998 doesn't sound good with HD650s. I like the 7236 with HD650.

If your DAC has a USB input why convert to from USB to Coax/SPDIF?  Does it really sound better than going direct from Computer>USB>DAC?
