I don't always have fond memories of all my exes, but I do for this one....

This is a photo of my Senn PX100 (the original one), and it was my beater pair of headphones for a while. I used to throw them in my backpack and they went with me everywhere without a word of complaint. Now they are retired and have been put to pasture, except once in a while I saddle them up...

[Review] The Martin Logan Mikros 90 -- A Bridge Too Far

The Martin Logan Mikros 90: A Bridge Too Far It was a dark and stormy night. OK, not really, but I have always wanted to read a review that started this way. And now I have, and so have you. When the Mikros 90 was conceived, it must have been a dark and stormy night indeed at Martin Logan...

[Review] Have you ever danced with the Devil in the pale moonlight?

This is a review of the Shure SE315 in-ear monitor (IEM). IMO the SE315 is a sleeper. Let me explain.   But first, the obligatory photo.     Strophe   Shure has been quietly refining its IEM design over the last decade, and gaining increasing recognition for ots products. You could argue...

[Review] The NuForce NE-600X: what happens when your starship travels at impulse speed

Drop to impulse speed!   The problem with deals is that you end up buying stuff you never wanted in the first place. So when I saw the Nuforce NE-600X for under $10, I immediately felt that familiar feeling when the two little dudes climbed out of my clavicles and took up their usual places...

[Review] AKG Q701 - The Little Headphone That Could. Game, that is.

    >Which would you recommend for female vocals, AKG Q701 or Beyerdynamic DT880?    That's actually a hard question to answer, IMO. To simplify things a little, the human voice ranges from about a F2 to C6 range, which equated to 80-1100 Hz. Of course overtones get higher. When you consider the...

[Review] AKG Q701 - The Little Headphone That Could. Game, that is.

Did your Little Dot MkIII come with stock tubes other than the GE 6AK5?

Yep the plate color is black. JRC = RCA. Once the tubes burn in, try swapping them out for the Mullards and decide for yourself if the sound changes, I think Mullards + LD3 = great combination!

Did your Little Dot MkIII come with stock tubes other than the GE 6AK5?

According to reviews on the tube rolling thread, the RCAs with black  plates are supposed to be quite good. I did swap them out for Mullard M8100s (CV4010s) and they were a great match for the amp - warm lush midrange, tight dense strong bass, vibrant highs without sibilance. I'm going to run...

Did your Little Dot MkIII come with stock tubes other than the GE 6AK5?

What tubes did your Little Dot come with? My Little Dot MkIII had with stock RCA black plate 5654 (6AK5) tubes instead of the GE tubes that seem to be the typical stock tube.    And for the tube gods of HeadFi: Is that a good or a bad thing?
