Philips Fidelio X1 | Review & Comparison
Indeed it is... I guess he meant a portable amp. People always ask if they "need" an amp... If you've already got the X1 then just try it. Since they're only 30 Ohm and really efficient I have not found they would lack anything when driving them with my Motorola Defy Smartphone.. Greetz, Unr3aL- Unr3aL

Philips Fidelio X1 | Review & Comparison
Yeah, I've read on from about page 196 on this thread and it seems there is quite some speculation but nothing confirmed as of yet. I just hope they don't release it 2 weeks after I got my X1s. This seems to always be that case with expensive hardware I buy. Hopefully not this time... What...- Unr3aL

Philips Fidelio X1 | Review & Comparison
Just out of curiosity, not to depreciate your "news": Why would anyone buy this exact cable from FiiO when it is just a generic shielded 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable? It looks OK on first glance, but why would I not want to get a nicer looking, maybe sleeved one from a well established cable...- Unr3aL

Philips Fidelio X1 | Review & Comparison
Does it really leak that much? Until now I had a Sennheiser PC 165 USB Headset which is also open. When I turned up the volume to something I personally wouldn't stand long-term my girlfriend complained... For normal listening on mid volume it was ok for her. Can I expect the same from the X1s...- Unr3aL

Introduction and advice for an ambitious newcomer (over-ear < 250$)
I really do thank you all for helping me decide. I'll go for the Fidelio X1 for now. Since I happen to listen to a lot of low bitrate audio (Youtube, old mp3s, etc) and do game and watch movies as well, I think I'm better off with them. If I do have the opportunity to test a few other cans at...- Unr3aL

Philips Fidelio X1 | Review & Comparison
Hi there! There is currently an ongoing battle in my head about choosing the right pair of cans. I was very intrigued by the review for the X1s but I'm still not 100% certain what to get. The discussion is held over here: CLICK It is not my intent to cross-post. I just feel that this is the...- Unr3aL

Okay, I'm gonna bump this now. The battle for me seems to be between the Philips Fidelio X1 and the Q701s (or maybe a yet unknown opponent you might introduce to me). I have now read up a lot on both of them and I need a last bit of help for my decision. I know now, that the X1 have a rather...- Unr3aL

The Fidelio X1 is definitely an eyecatcher and for what it's worth the reviews seem to deem it a very "fun" sound. Definitely a good way to go. If the fun doesn't go too far from my idea of audiophile listening they could be it. I'll read more! I could easily find a deal on the Hifiman but they...- Unr3aL

Introduction and advice for an ambitious newcomer (over-ear < 250$)
PurpleAngel That's my problem. Most cans in the price range I've looked at get "mostly" positive feedback. That's why I find it so hard to compare them, since reviewers can't possibly relate to all other headphones. The K612 look nice though, but I wonder about the difference to the...- Unr3aL

Introduction and advice for an ambitious newcomer (over-ear < 250$)
Yeah, I'm sorry for that. I just wanted to combine it a bit with introducing myself, so people can get a picture of me and my listening preferences. I might've as well split it up into two topics but I didn't want to clutter the board. But: Since you took the time to write that sentence...- Unr3aL

Hi there fellow gods of knowledge! I'd like to introduce myself first before bombarding you with my questions as I intend to have a good time at this board not make it a one-stop shot... I'm a 24 year old Austrian. My audiophile history sadly is little to non-existant, however in my...- Unr3aL
