I made a simple switch box yesterday (3 in 1 out). Hammond case, Alps switch, some cheap-ish connectors and teflon insulated silver plaited stranded copper wire. A classic combination, as one might say

    Anyone using Linux?

I have been using Kubuntu (Dapper) for 6 months now. I have absolutely no reason to switch back to Windows XP. Everything works as a dream... ...except my Alien DAC (PCM2702). Every time amaroK finishes a playlist the DAC "gets busy". Xine flashes a warning about the device being busy and not...

I just re-cabled the amp's all signalpaths with PTFE-insulated silver-plaited stranded copper wire. These new cables are white. The wires from Neutrik's RCA-jacks to amp's inputs are coax cables with internal insulation by PTFE and sleeve of FEP. Shield and signal wire are both silver-plaited...

Push button switch with aluminium button cap

Check out APEM, especially their AV-series. Their AV04-model is 2-pole On/On type switch. At least ELFA carries both Bulgin and APEM switches. (Electromechanics/Pneumatics -> Switches -> Pushbutton switches -> Show product images) Although ELFA operates only in Northern Europe they do ship...

Thank you all for the compliments. I was thinking of getting some Black Gates to replace current capacitors... Quote: Originally Posted by Ace o' Spades Wow! Great work! How does it sound? Sounds good, especially with some 12FK6s. I very much prefer those over 12AE6s...

My 3rd amp, a Millett Hybrid. Finished some weeks ago. Lately I took off those ugly bolts from the Neutrik combo connector (hp-out) and replaced them with fancy screws. Potentiometer is a 22-step "fake RK-27". All electrolytics are Sanyo MV-AX series. All film caps are Evox Rifa PHE 426...

    Dynalo - alternative parts?

I should be able to get 2SJ109, 2SK389, 2SA1015 and 2SC1815 at reasonable prices: 3.44e, 2.60e, 0.32e and 0.32e accordingly. Posting to the GB is only a couple of euros so if someone is interested I can call my supplier if they have them in stock. They should have though.

    DIY Cable Gallery!!

Made couple of these today. Cable is standard coax and plugs are Neutrik's. After the first pic I added some heatshrink over the inner part. You can see it coming beneath the plug in the second picture. Haven't plugged it in yet so no idea about how it sounds. Upcoming: MH w/ TREAD and...

Finished this A47 recently. It's the second amp I've built. Nothing fancy so no inside pics. The only thing to inform is the potentiometer which is an Alps RK18 (never heard?). The two 2134's are fed by 12 batteries located in a different enclosure (not shown). Power is transferred via 4-pin...
