    What's your reference Album (CD/LP) for bench testing a hi-fi/Head phones ?

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication. If it sounds good, then the equipment is utter crap.

DAPReview: TrekStor vibez flash up to 32 GB

I enjoy the Vibez quite a bit. I would describe it's sound as warm and musical, as opposed to say the ipod touch which is colder and more sterile. The Vibez does however exhibit quite a bit of graininess that I've found the usage of a lossless format (.flac) is not worthwhile given its existing...

    Meier Corda Aria Amp/DAC

I have no experience with the Zero amp/dac; however the Aria will complement the Senn 580s nicely - nicely balanced tonally with a wide presentation but slightly leaner bass depending on your preferences. Bass quality is good though.

The TTVJ Millett 307A Dynamic Headphone Amplifier

Thanks for the write-up. What are those things attached to the top of the tubes in the last picture and what do they do? The overall cosmetics aren't bad, except for the power switch which comes across as a little bit "cheap" looking for something so expensive.

iTunes: 100 Famous Classical pieces for $5.99!!!

As someone with a modestly small classical collection (~150 cds), I found it a nice purchase especially at 5.99 as it reminded me of the names of a few pieces that I know I have sitting around somewhere. Sometimes when I purchase a classical cd, I buy it for a specific piece on there and usually...

    Karajan Complete EMI Recordings

I have heard some of his individual Beethoven Symphony recordings before but not enough to really compare them to the only cycle I own which is the Zinman/Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. I understand that he has made numerous recordings of the Beethoven on different labels. From my reading, it seems...

    Karajan Complete EMI Recordings

I ordered this from Amazon a few days ago. I'm eagerly anticipating it's arrival. Does anyone else have it? Which (do you think) are the highlight / your favorite performances? A complete list of works can be found here.

    Euro Cup 08

Spain's defense on paper looks amazing, but it was far from it during the match. Sergio Ramos messed up a few times giving the ball away in his own half and Puyol looked frustrated and over-worked. I think Spain (and Portugal) have shown they have some serious vulnerabilities in the back...

Azur 840c- Still got it or moved it on? Why?

I've had the 840c now for a year (before it became fotm i guess) and I'm extremely satisfied with it. I use it not only for redbook but I'm also outputting spdif from my computer via a behringer uca202 which feeds the dac inputs on the 840c. My current amp is a RSA HR-2. It added a nice touch of...

Behringer uca202 as digital link to DAC?

The UCA202 is a nice little feature-packed device. When plugging it into a Windows xp machine, a generic usb audio driver automatically installs and Windows sets the UCA202 as the primary sound device. This is the driver I'm using for general purpose pc sound output directly to powered pc...

    Metallica's "Enter Sandman"

Well I might take some slack for this in this particular thread, but I equate 'Enter Sandman' with the end of Metallica - the Metallica of my youth that I enjoyed so much week-in week-out playing (on instruments) with my friends in the basement. Sadly, the earlier albums don't all share the same...

Do CD-Rs actually sound better than the CD originals?!?

I read the same thing on some other forum with specific brands of cdr's and maybe the burner itself mattered but I don't recall exactly. Anyway, I tested this with my own ears on my system out of boredom one evening. I ripped the original with eac with accurate rip and wrote the cdr on a...
