Want something better than on-board for my HD280's - XONAR STX or Something else?

Quick question: Is it possible to ruin my HD280's with the E9 if the volume is left high? In normal usage I don't even go further then about 1/3, but I just want to know if the power to break my headphone rest within this amplifier. Thanks

Want something better than on-board for my HD280's - XONAR STX or Something else?

Just wanted to post an update for anyone who stumbles upon this.   Got my Amplifier and Card in and I have to say I'm loving it, I have nothing to compare it to, but the difference is quite clear. Sadly, for whatever reason Amazon sent me a unit with the dock connector broken off and the...

Want something better than on-board for my HD280's - XONAR STX or Something else?

Quote: Not to win noob of the year to consecutive years in a row, but by noisy, are we talking audible background noise whenever there is silence in the music or nothing on at all? Because with my onboard I notice nothing like that at all.   I'm very close to slamming the Buy button...

Want something better than on-board for my HD280's - XONAR STX or Something else?

Let me apologize in advance if I'm about to win the Head-Fi Noob of the Year 2012 Award, but what I don't understand is...   ...how using an amplifier to turn down a 100%(Or as high as it will go without distortion) output from a soundcard, is supposed to sound richer and better then...

Want something better than on-board for my HD280's - XONAR STX or Something else?

Quote: I'm using Windows 7 64-bit   By solution for my microphone, let me re-phrase my quesrion -> My on-board mic-in can't make it loud enough, will running a low-end Audio card(Possibly a small USB one or something like that) in addition to my higher-end one give me more flexibility...

Want something better than on-board for my HD280's - XONAR STX or Something else?

Quote:   I think this pair sounds like the best pick, but I have two newbie questions.   1)What volume level from the Xonar should I feed into the E9 and why(or better yet where can I read more)?   2)Should I use the -90db 1/8" jack or use an adapter with the 1/4" jack on the...

Want something better than on-board for my HD280's - XONAR STX or Something else?

Quote:   I was considering a card like that as well, but is the difference night and day between a low-end DAC and the on-board? I figure if I'm going to install something I might as well make it worthwhile, but if spending $200 on a high-end card and then plugging HD280s into them is...

Want something better than on-board for my HD280's - XONAR STX or Something else?

Currently I'm listening only through the on-board sound of my Gigabye EP45-UD3P motherboard, which includes a Realtek ALC889A chipset.   I wanted to step up to the warmer, richer sound that's offered with a DAC and Amplifier, and with the amount of listening I do, was considering dropping...

    Frustrating MEElectronics M6 IEM problem

I'm using the 3 flanged tips, the right ear works perfectly well, but when I insert the left I hear something squish around inside my ear and the sound is sealed off, it sounds as if it's plugged up by something, and the volume actually sounds louder when I pull it out and  break the seal.  ...

Earbuds/In-canal pair for on the go. Looking to spend around $35

Hello At home I am very happy with my Sennheiser HD280 Pro set, but I wanted to pick up some in-canal earbuds for on-the-go.   In-canal seems like the best choice for me because 1)They will block out outside noise allowing more musical enjoyment, great for vehicles and airplanes, kind of...
