    VA / MD / DC meet - Saturday, January 18, 2014

Glad to see head-fiers in my hometown. I'll likely be in town that weekend, so I'll definitely try to make it.   I can bring a pair of AD900s, and a hifiman EF2.   BTW is anyone bringing a Beyer T1 by chance?

Official NY /Regional Spring meet, April 20 2013

If there's still room I'm in. Never attended a meet before, but I've always wanted to...   I can bring a pair of AD900s if there is interest.

    The ATH-AD900 Thread

Has anyone tried these with the EF2? I ask because I wonder if I paid the price for committing the cardinal sin of buying before testing. I expected that the amp section wouldn't help these cans out, but even the DAC seems to fare little better than my mobo sound...

    First Amp for my AD900's...

^ agree. I recently placed an order for the EF2 ($200 USD), has somewhat of a following on head-fi. Hopefully this will cure my upgradeitis for a while. Ideally, the EF2's euphonic presentation will offset the thin sound I perceive from onboard sound. If only the accursed thing will ship on...

Can I burn them in without an amp

^ this is why I love head-fi. I remember having the same concerns about the AD900s when I first bought them (no amp, straight out of on board sound). I don't seem to remember burn in being very significant. Probably my mind playing tricks on me.

    Budget DAC/Amp Combo for AD900

hmm possibly. Hoping to get something more widely available though - I'm a little too lazy to deal with ebay =P. Has no one tried these DAC/amps in combo with the AD900?????

    Budget DAC/Amp Combo for AD900

Hey all, I recently purchased an Audio-Technica ATH-AD900, which I run out of onboard sound on my laptop. It was an improvement over my other pair of cans, but I can't help but feel like I could improve the sound a bit. Hence, I've decided to purchase a cheapo integrated DAC/Amp that would...

    Announcing the upcoming HEAD-FI QUARTERLY!

x2 Question: How do we subscribe to this?

AD900 + emu 0404? or perhaps Fubar III?

I recently purchased the Audio-Technica AD900 because its sound signature seemed to suit my taste in music (rock, metal). Playing music through it out of my onboard sound, however, left me with much to be desired. As such, I've considered buying a cheapo USB DAC/Amp combo that would hopefully...

    The ATH-AD900 Thread

The beginning of the thread has multiple posts recommending against the phat pad mod because of their impact on the sound. Just an FYI if you haven't read that section. On a more depressing note, after purchasing these late August I set my HK soundsticks aside (living in a college dorm...

    Headphone and hats

lol, a quality sombrero with holes would work. And then you could stick silly putty on the lightning rods so they keep the sombrero from getting blown away

    What is a DAC?

Sorry for the slight drift in topic but a related question on DACs... I always viewed digital to analog conversion as sort of a transform, so like the same signal is placed into an alternate form that is recoverable. So then what is it that makes a, say, $250 DAC that much superior to an iPod...

    Hi New member

As long as marginal utility gained from the new audio equipment is equal to the marginal cost of purchasing them, you need not be sorry about your wallet at all! Also, AT represent. How are you liking em?

    Are the ATH-AD900 for me?

Hmm, I'm guessing EQing didn't make the bass better for you, Bengt77? I cranked my lower bass up a few dB and was pretty satisfied...
