    I just traded for a set of Shure SRH1540s, so I wonder how they compare to the Amirons besides being closed back opposed to being open back!

    Thank you! I’m having a hard time making up my mind and unfortunately don’t have enough money to try all 3 to see which I like better. I do like the DT1770s, so I may try the Amirons if the DT1990s aren’t a hugh improvement over the DT1770s.

    Since I have the DT1770s which would you recommend the Amirons or the DT1990s. Would the DT1990s be too close to the DT1770s, so should I go with the Amirons?

    Thanks for all of the great information:) Another question is what portable amp/dac pairs well with both the DT1770 and DT1990. I have tried the Chord Mojo and it sounds good and the iDSD Black Label is on my list to try. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

    Thank you for the reply! This is really helpful. I was looking at the T5ps as well, but the price range was little high for me. I’m glad to hear about the iDSD BL because I just traded my Chord Mojo and was looking at that for a replacement.

    I know the DT1770s are closed back and the DT1990s are open back, but can anyone compare the sound? I have the DT1770s and I’m thinking of getting rid of them and getting the DT1990s. Thanks!
