What are balanced headphones?
So please do correct me if I am mistaken, but if your not getting interference with a standard 3 cable system and have a decent cable with decent shared ground, then you will notice no difference at all? I've been looking into this lately and so far it looks like nothing more than a...- Spaceresearcher

I'm glad these headhpones provided nice sound because I'll be honest just the look of them turns me completely off. The description of the cushions alone leads me to believe these would not be a good long listening headphone. There does however appear to be a good range of replacement ear...- Spaceresearcher

OPPO BDP-105 headphone Amp
I've been curious as to how much the sound differs between the Oppo BDP103AU and the Oppo BDP105D differs in terms of Hi-Fi. Already owning a nice Panasonic Blu-Ray player, what I'm interested in the Oppo for is a superior DSD and HiFi audio experience. The extra features are simply a...- Spaceresearcher

Just received my XIAOMI Piston headphones and I have to say: AMAZING. These pick up frequencies that I don't think the Sennheiser PMX 80's can that's for sure. Although I liked the sound initially of the PMX80's, I realised it's because I've gotten used to the headset, when I heard details...- Spaceresearcher

Just tried out the CoGoo T02's. For the price there a darn site better than what you'll pick up at the local supermarket that's for sure. The bass isn't terrific and the high's as mentioned are not crisp enough for my personal liking, but if your on a budget, these are worth the bargain...- Spaceresearcher

The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016
Well I've just purchased a 2nd hand Ibasso DX50 and I have to say, it's simply a stunning player. The audio quality is 2nd to no player I have ever owned to date (I'll confess that goes back to the Sony Walkman days too fellow audio fans). Stunning sound reproduction and the equaliser...- Spaceresearcher

Don't touch the Dolphin noise isolating earphones (id: 336509) available at Woolworths. I've set up a thread to see if anyone else has tried any of the other Chinese brand headphones they have on offer. There's a brand called Moshi and another I've never heard of. I'm tempted to try the...- Spaceresearcher

More Chinese Headphones available at Woolworths
Hello all, Just a quick post to provide feedback on a crazy purchase today. Having ordered a pair of Piston earphones after reading about the raves and recommendations I thought I'd give the local Woolworths a shot as there was a pair of noise cancellation earphones that looked similar...- Spaceresearcher

Many thanks for revealing these great hidden gems and providing terrific information and feedback fellow head-fi'ers. My pet hate in the audio world, is companies that establish a good reputation then rip off the market and make a killing just because there name becomes well known. I've...- Spaceresearcher

IRiver LYUMO M11
Hello fellow Head-Fiers, Has anyone seen any specifications in terms of audio playback for these new iRiver MP3 players? So far they only seem to be available from Japan. What I liked about them was the incorporation of a player into a memory stick. No extra cables required, just...- Spaceresearcher

Best sounding 24bit/96khz FLAC player?
One more point on the whole review of audio gear, in this case portable MP3 players with studio quality sound reproduction. Has anyone found a 'decent' audio review site that actually undertakes a serious battery of tests for these units? Most reviews I've come across rave about a few...- Spaceresearcher

Best sounding 24bit/96khz FLAC player?
One more important note on the AK120. Although I haven't heard the new unit yet, I have read that the ability to play with seamless track breaks(continuous play without annoying pauses) is now a reality with the AK120. The AK100 may have a firmware upgrade available to fix it's issue. In...- Spaceresearcher

Best sounding 24bit/96khz FLAC player?
Hello all, The answer to this question would have to be the Astell and Kern produced by the iRiver company. http://www.iriver.com/product/view.asp?pCode=001&pNo=91 This player will handle 24bit 192KHz files. The added bonus of this incredible audiophile oriented player is that it...- Spaceresearcher
