Moving on from the Denon D1001
Hello roma101, thanks for your reply. I actually returned both the M80 and Shure 215 and am currently listening to a Denon D1100. I am really enjoying this headphone - yes the sound is colored, but then I am looking more for enjoyment than the last word in fidelity. It has a very solid bottom...- sohels

Moving on from the Denon D1001
Just received the SE215, can't say I'm impressed with the IEM concept. Sounds a little congested and lacking in dynamic range somehow. On the other hand, the M-80 is actually growing on me. If the M-100 has more slam and openness, it might be exactly what I'm looking for. Do Apple stores carry...- sohels

Moving on from the Denon D1001
Quote: Thank you very much! I've been curious about the Shure IEMs for a while; just ordered the SE215. Quote: Interesting. How so? I've read that the midrange can seem recessed on the D1100 - is this why you prefer the CAL?- sohels

Moving on from the Denon D1001
Quote: I see. Any thoughts on the Philips L1/M1? Also, too bad about the Momentum's bass. Perhaps they respond well to EQ-ing? Quote: I toyed with the idea, but thought I'd be able to do better with a $400 budget. Any chance you can do a quick D2000 / SRH840 / T50RP / SE215...- sohels

Moving on from the Denon D1001
Hello, Back after a while on Head-Fi! My Denon D1001 is on its last legs and I'm looking for a replacement. I prefer listening straight from my iPhone 4S (which I believe sounds better than my uDac plugged into my Macbook Air). I just purchased the V-Moda M-80 but I'm not very happy with...- sohels

What is the rationale behind the prohibition of DBT discussion?
The point I'm trying to make is that if the goal is to most accurately reproduce a piece of music, one must not be dismissive of objective measurements. Pursuing 'perceptual accuracy' is absolutely fine - but to claim that this pursuit is in fact identical to, or indeed is even more...- sohels

What is the rationale behind the prohibition of DBT discussion?
mike1127, please observe the following image: Suppose you're convinced that the lines are not parallel (where as in fact they are), but you are not allowed to use a ruler to verify this. You are now asked to re-create this image and you get most of the details right except your...- sohels

Not sure, but I believe its for everything except the xbox. Great option for HTPC - hardware accelerated decoding for movies, supports a wide variety of remotes, etc. For more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XBMC- sohels

What is the rationale behind the prohibition of DBT discussion?
Quote: No. What I have said is very simple - equipment that does not measure well (eg high distortion, uneven frequency response etc) will not be capable of accurately reproducing the recorded signal. Try coming up with proof by counter-example.- sohels

What is the rationale behind the prohibition of DBT discussion?
Quote: As has been previously suggested in this thread, measurements ensure accuracy of reproduction. 'The best audio equipment' will invariably measure well, unless what you seek is a flavored, lower-fidelity sound.- sohels
