Schiit Modi USB DAC
Thanks for the link, interesting stuff. I ran it, and it seemed to be fairly low (never peaked above 500us), and I didn't see any spikes when there was crackling. Then again, like you said it may not apply to a USB device. I'll keep experimenting and see if it happens elsewhere.- SnoopKatt

Schiit Modi USB DAC
Thanks for the advice. Seems to be ok on my work laptop. I also plugged it into my hub on my current laptop and it seemed to go away unless it's on for a while. I read another topic about something similar happening on another DAC, but I couldn't find it in my device manager. I'll keep messing...- SnoopKatt

Schiit Modi USB DAC
I've been using the Modi for a while, and I'm starting to hear some weird things now. Every now and then, the left channel makes this weird hissing sound that comes in two's, and sometimes I hear something on the right channel that sounds like an 8-bit Atari explosion or something. It didn't do...- SnoopKatt

I'm Having Trouble Finding These Cables!
Thanks everyone for their input! It's good to know there's a lot of options. And it's good to know that Grado makes that cable at a reasonable price. Seems like it should be a lot more common lol. I'm in the US (California), so unfortunately a lot of these options won't work, but I do... -
I'm Having Trouble Finding These Cables!
Hey guys, I've searched around quite a bit, and for the life of me I cannot find these two cables anywhere: –a very short cable with a male 3.5 mm end and the other end with a 6.3 mm female. I'm thinking like 6 inches or so for the cable length. I don't like the adapters because they put...- SnoopKatt

The Monoprice MP9927 PG 208.. MP8320 (MEP-933)..The $7.11 club..
I got these a few weeks ago, and after burning them in for about 24 hours, I can't say I'm impressed. They're not bad, but I'm just not amazed with them. To me, they sound like seven dollars earbuds. Not to rag on them or anything, but am I missing something? I am playing them off my clip+.- SnoopKatt

Going Away to University Soon, I'm Going to Need a Different DAC
After looking around a lot more, this may not be a good idea. After thinking about it a little more, it seems like it will be a lot less hassle to get something that has an analog input, has a headphone amplifier built in, and can output the audio to a speaker amplifier as well (or a line out)...- SnoopKatt

Getting "called-out" for not wearing the Beats
It depends on who I'm talking to. Most of my friends definitely agree that my Sennheiser's sound much better. I do have a couple stubborn friends that stubbornly believe in the saying "you get what you pay for". It's more or less the same for strangers that I run into on the street. Some agree...- SnoopKatt

Going Away to University Soon, I'm Going to Need a Different DAC
Hey Guys, In September 2012, I will be going away to a University, and most of my equipment is rather bulky, so I will probably have to put it in storage or sell it. On the upside, I hope to try some new equipment :-) Right now, I have a pair of Sennheiser HD 555's, and I plan on...- SnoopKatt

Is Sansa Clip + really that good?!
I just got one a week ago because the micro-SD slot my phone died. After hacking it with RockBox, I don't know how I went about without it (if you use large memory cards, it's practically unusable with stock firmware). For what it is, it sounds great. Everything is detailed, and lossless audio...- SnoopKatt
