Sony MDR MA 900 (new release from Sony)
I can only compare with headphones I own, of course, so it is a mish mash and will be comparing headphones designed with totally different ends in mind. But compared with Grado SR80 the soundstage is both wider and deeper. Compared with the sony F1 I find the soundstage to be deeper though...- sleach

Sony MDR MA 900 (new release from Sony)
I used to have the m50 and I enjoy the MA900 more than I ever enjoyed them. I never had any Beyerdynamics so can't comment there. However I do have Ultrasone Proline 750 and the MA900 are much better than these across the board. In short, these are currently my second best sounding phones after...- sleach

Headphones that don't hurt my medically altered ears?
You might look at the Sony MDR MA900 or secondhand Sony MDR F1. They don't touch the ears at all. Similarly, the AKG K1000 is suspended over the ears although could not be described as "affordable" unless you have a bit of spare cash.- sleach

Sony MDR MA 900 (new release from Sony)
The slides on mine are quite firm and do not rebound or move without deliberate effort, nor is there any flopping on either side. I can not see that there any gaps or seams that do not meet on mine either. If your phones do have those problems and there is that sort of inconsistency so early in...- sleach

Sony MDR MA 900 (new release from Sony)
Quote: Although this seems to be a commonly recurring theme for this headphone I don't think it is the build quality is all that bad. The headphones are definitely lightweight, but I don't think that equates to poor quality. The F1's have a sort of suspension system on the headband which...- sleach

For Those Who Own Loudspeaker-Based Systems Costing Up To $50,000, Are You Satisfied With The Sound Of Your Headphones?
The PMC DS001 amps. They are the same that they use in the active monitors, but they also sell them as separate amps. I had this idea that one day I'd like to get a massive Bryston to go with the PMCs, but so far I am really happy with the PMC amps. I am pretty envious of your TLE1. The best...- sleach

For Those Who Own Loudspeaker-Based Systems Costing Up To $50,000, Are You Satisfied With The Sound Of Your Headphones?
I have PMC mono blocks and FB1s and I love them. Generally, I find that the more esoteric and experimental tunes are good with the headphones whereas the banging tunes are greatest on the speakers. There is also a volume consideration: I have little kids so I can't really let them off the leash...- sleach

Sony MDR MA 900 (new release from Sony)
My F1 is stock, though the MA900 is a tad more sensitive. For the last couple of hours I've been using the Fiio E17 and with there is no problem with the gain on 0 (as opposed to +6 or +12). In terms of timbre, I find the MA900 to sound pretty uncoloured so I guess I agree with you that both...- sleach

Sony MDR MA 900 (new release from Sony)
My MA900s arrived today. I wear headphones about 10 hours per day. Comfort is very important to me, as is a non-fatiguing sound. I already own MDR F1s and I really appreciate the comfort. The sound is quite good too. With the F1s the combination of sound and comfort make them my most...- sleach

Is AudiophileProducts.com out of business?
I will try the Paypal refund option. I have been trying to get through on sales@audiophileproducts.com and support@audiophileproducts.com and I have an email for Todd as well. This morning I got "mailbox quota exceeded" responses for each of those addresses. That is what made me...- sleach
