Best settings to use on iTunes to maximize the digital output quality of a macbook pro? (Toslink, USB > DAC)
Yeah, I'm a bit skeptical on weather the sound will improve. It's still running on the same hardware, so I can't imagine the improvements will be substantial, if any. I think the respective players have tweaked the equalizer, and other settings to "enhance" the output. Either way, they're...- shoooze

Best settings to use on iTunes to maximize the digital output quality of a macbook pro? (Toslink, USB > DAC)
Thanks! I had all the itunes "enhancements" off, it just seemed to make the sound louder rather than improving the quality. In fact it probably degraded the quality. The audio midi change helped, it was at 48khz, and when I switched it to 44.1khz the sound tightened up. It still...- shoooze

Best settings to use on iTunes to maximize the digital output quality of a macbook pro? (Toslink, USB > DAC)
The sound quality I get from my macbook pro using DAC/amp (both usb, toslink) is a bit underwhelming, compared to the same DAC/amp connected to my CD player, and ps3 both via toslink optical. Compared to the latter two the macbook's sound is less robust, hollow, and thin. I ran music off both...- shoooze

LCD2,Beyer T1,Sennheiser HD800and HifiMan HE6 Shootout Impressions
I'm looking to upgrade to a pair of world class cans, and this topic was very informative. The HD800's seem to be the slight favorite, though the harsh highs, and to a lesser extent the mild bass is something to note. Great impressions and write up's all around. Cheers. ...- shoooze

What tips do you use with your Triple.fi?
I like the foams the best, but they just wear out too fast. Most of the times I use the UE double tip.- shoooze

I'm getting static noise on the left earphone on my Triple Fi 10
^ Thanks for the info, sorry to hear you're having problems as well. The irony is I wouldn't of bought it without the ebay 30% cashback deal which brought down the price to around $200, if UE told me it would cost $115 to fix I would jump on the offer. Which brings the price back up to the...- shoooze

I'm getting static noise on the left earphone on my Triple Fi 10
It's distracting especially on beethoven's piano sonata's, but on some other songs (rock/pop etc...) that are textured it's a lot less apparent, to almost nonexistant. Probably because the piano sonata's are a lot more easier to detect the static because it's only piano, where as the static can...- shoooze

ipod calssic 6th gen w/out imod?
The new ones is only available at 120GB. 80GB, and 160GB is the old one. AFAIK the 120GB is the same as the older classic's. Both I believe are considered 6th gen.- shoooze

"Refurbished" audio components?
Great post Eric, but IMO there are certain refurbs you should avoid. For example with LCD HDTV's a lot of people return/exchange them because they have dead/stuck pixels. Technically from the manufacturer's standpoint several dead pixels fall within acceptable levels so they resell them as...- shoooze

The iPod's line out is inferior?!?!
My question is a little off topic, in regards to the line out. I have a ipod 160gb LoD connected to my hornet amp. the hornet amp controls the volume, but if I change the equalizer setting on my ipod the sound changes. Is that natural for a true line out?- shoooze
