    Deep-fit CIEM (like spiral ears)

I'm looking for a CIEM which offer the highest level of noise isolation. I'm reading a lot of positive comments on Spiral Ears SE 3-way and 5-way reference, but they aren't taking any order right now and I can't find much info on their lower price bracket products (1-way and 2-way pro).  ...

yipcanjo,   how is the 2 screws linking the cups to the headband working out for you? Did you find a way to let them flex a bit to allow the cups to orient themselves properly with your head ?

Number of strands per insulation tubing

I was planning on using 4 wire per channel polarity (8 per channel, 16 total) in some kind of braid.  Either 1 wire, 2 wires or 4 wire per cotton tubing for a 8-tubing braid, 4-tubing braid or 2-tubing twisted cable.  Obviously, the simpler the better since more tubing will just increase the...

Number of strands per insulation tubing

I had this question posted in the DIY section and it went unanswered :   Is there any advantage to making a cable out of individually insulated strands of metal wire in, for say, cotton tubing ? What is the downside to twisting multiple strands of wire together in a cotton tube vs insulating...

Number of solid silver strands per cotton tubing

I'm rewirering my headphones and don't know how I should proceed for the "Y" shaped neck section. I want it to be light and about 2-3' long ending with a mini XLF connector.   I've just received my cotton tubing and the 28AWG 5N 50' silver wire is in the mail.  I'll use up to 6 strands...

Quote: 1. They don't have to match perfectly, as long as each baffle match its cups, and that's not too hard to do on a non-cnc woodturning lathe. You should worry about matching the patterns of your wood instead / chooses pieces that will yield similar texture.   2. 3D printers...

    Cotton Tubing

Quote: Could you point me to your supplier of <2mm cotton tubing ? I just bought some 60ft of 28awg solid silver and i'd like to sleeve them individually (can't wait to see how i'll manage That  ).   Thanks    Edit: wow, i'm a thread grave digger. Sorry about that.

Bravo Audio - funny looking little tube amps

I read through most of the thread, but I might have missed it.   There's plenty of warning about lifting traces, but not enough advices for people with little experience:  How do you avoid lifting traces ? Lower the iron heat ?

Not sure about the shape of the cup, but Smeggy once mentionned that bigger cup depth had a bad effect on sound quality.  Dampening is definitly going to affect sound and you probably should go though the thread to read about that (also the T50RP thread)... many people tried lots of stuff

Quote: Thanks Teejaay for the info. I see that the method is mainly used for pen turning. I have 2 questions :   First, i've read that since Black wallnut is a porous wood, one should start by sanding it with oil so that the resulting slurry fills the pores of the wood.  Can you comment...

I like the actual color of the untreated cups and as I said, I know almost nothing about wood finish. If there was a way to keep that black and white contrast AND have high gloss lacquered finish, that would be perfect.   Unfortunaly, I don't believe I could go through a 15-step process and...

4.5pants cup and baffle are done in black walnut.  Can someone suggest a finish for them ? I have no experience varnishing / dyeing wood and I have no idea what would make this essence stand out.
