    Prog rock

Marillion comes top of mind, Coheed & Cambria, Fair to Midland, Arena, Apocalypicta, King Crimson, The many flavors of Genesis (they still had some good Prog even when they were churning out pop hits) Big Big Train, King's X, Glass Hammer, Pineapple Theif, Emmerson, Lake & Palmer, Anathema That...

Creative Sound Blaster new series Z, Zx & ZxR

I haven't been on the forum for a while, but I just KNOW this is sticky posted somewhere, the instructions/"how I did the actual swap" time to engage search over 229 pages!

    The Fiio X3 Thread.

+1 Just did the update to 3.3 myself and having no issues with 128GB card. Sure is nice to have exFAT support, the whole having to install a 3rd party formatter to format 128GB with FAT32 was a bit of a chore.

Bose Companion 2 MkIII or Creativeworks T20/T40

It's 2x the cost of Bose, but I've heard good things about Audioengine 2+. as with everything audio it's all subjective though.

Ultimate Ears UE-x Pro Custom; Appreciation, Review & Discussion thread

I did bite on a Fiio X3 and it is a very nice portable player. Of course it got me off the fence and actively shopping for high resolution tracks. I also got a pair of UE 900 (non-customs) so I have something I can show others just how pronounced the difference is between mp3 played on their...

Should I buy Zune HD? Or it would be waste of money?

If you have a Zune HD and the Zune client, yes you can still use the $99 a year all you can listen to subscription and load those tracks on to a Zune or Windows Phone 7 device. The service has been re-branded Xbox Music, but logging in to the Zune client with the subscribed account gives you the...

Ultimate Ears UE 900 Discussion and Impressions Thread

I bought the UE900 dented box (box looks fine to me) off of Logitech so I have something I can let others use (after cleaning). I was very frustrated with being able to tell my friends just how good HD audio sounds (on my Fiio X3 & UE Pro 7 Customs) and not have anyway to let them hear at least...

    Light Harmonic Geek Wave

As tempting as this might be, I am a Windows Phone user so won't have access to the "control via smartphone" because there won't be an app for a long time if ever.   I do give them credit for having a user replaceable battery though.

Music ripped from CD with iTunes vs Music purchased on iTunes (Quality)

When I rip/re-encode to a VBR format, I always use two pass encoding. It takes a little longer, but is worth it.

Ultimate Ears UE 900 Discussion and Impressions Thread

I having worked in at a coupe of different device manufacturing companies, I agree with you Gilly. The companies I worked for put longer warranties on items they were all but certain were unlikely to ever get sent back.   A very good example of this is the Hard drive industry. The less...

Bravo Audio v2 reviewed or more like mentioned on Cnet

Not a deep review, but enough to pique my interest. http://www.cnet.com/news/a-tiny-super-affordable-but-powerful-tube-headphone-amplifier/ Any thoughts other than it looks pretty cool? :)

Please share your best songs that can make your portable set up or DAP to Nirvana

Just got an early release of the new Transatlantic album - Kaleidoscope, both the regular CD release as well as the DVD with 5.1 DTS, Dolby Digital and PCM. Very good release even if it isn't official until 1/28, so no YouTube links just yet.

Ultimate Ears UE-x Pro Custom; Appreciation, Review & Discussion thread

I had UE 4 Pros for about 18 months before UE tempted me with 20% off on a new pair of customs. I took them up on it and now use a pair of UE 7 Pros. The step up from 4's to 7's wasn't as pronounced as when I got my 4's, but I can tell that they sound more full.   I travel a lot and I do love...

Porcupine Tree: Deadwing Track 5 - Arriving Somewhere Not Here You Tube:    Hunted for the DVD-A of this for months. The DTS 5.1 mix is excellent and the Stereo PCM version is amazing. Ripped to WMA Lossless for use on my Zune HD 64/UE 7 Pro IEMs. People don't believe me when I tell them...
