I had a similar issue, but the update iOS 11.3 seems to have fixed it.

I wouldn't buy USB-C cabled from a non-name manufacturer since there have been instances of cabled not following the spec and destroying devices. Pay a little bit more but get some piece of mind.

Small nit: USB 3.1 and USB-C are not the same thing. USB 3.1 is a version of the USB standard responsible for transferring data between devices. Much like USB 3.0, 2.0 and 1.0 USB-C is the connector standard. Much like USB-A USB-B, Mini-USB, and Micro-USB.

The bottom line is that people would rather not spend money on an amp module that they don't need. Ideally Fiio will find a way to make that happen.

  The advantage of it being in the DAC is greater flexibility. You could use any DAP you want, be it a phone, dedicated DAP or computer and still get the benefits of EQ.   This becomes important when you consider streaming services that only work on iOS or Android

I would love it if it were possible to have separate EQ settings for left and right. No one else does this and it is very useful for those of us that have some hearing loss in one ear.
