    Headphones Shocking my Ear

I get the same thing with my ATH AD700s.  I wear them at my desk at work, and if I stand up from my chair I usually get zapped on the top of my right ear....really annoying.

Need advise about on ear headphones

Not sure what you want to spend.....the relatively new Philips Downtown models are pretty good and not too badly priced.  Check out the blurb in the summer buying guide.

Balanced sounding, bass leaning headphones on a budget?

Not sure which JVCs you are talking about there, but the JVC HA-RX900's sound like they might fit the bill.  They are very balanced and detailed, but still lean toward the warmer (bass) end of the spectrum.  The bass is a bit stronger out of the box than after break in.   The xb500 is...

    Starter Rig?

Lots of programs will rip into FLAC (I use fre:ac, but EAC and foobar2000) will do it as well.   I also have the HD448 and they are by far my least favorite headphones (I have several others in the same price range Grado SR80s, Audio Technical ATH-AD700, JVC HARX-900, Sony MDR-V6).  There is...

    Sennheiser HD448

I find the HD448s to be rather unimpressive.  I spend about $100 on them a year or so ago and don't think I got my money's worth out of that.   The sound is good, but there is nothing remarkable about it either.  I would describe it as a clean, flat sound.  I don't like the material covering...

Buying first good headphone. Have around $40 to spend. What should I buy?

I can't really comment on the HARX700s, but I have the HARX900s which I listen to quite often, often in preference of more expensive sets like Grado SR-80s and Audio Technica ATH-AD700s.   They are an absolute steal on Amazon around $56.  It is a little out of your price range, but I think...

    Fiio E 6 newby

Will it have any negative effect on the battery to do this?  I am thinking about using one in a similar situation where I don't really intend to use it for portable use, but may still occasionally want to.   Is it better to charge/discharge or to leave plugged in?

To plug in or not to plug in

Sorry if this has been addressed before, I browsed and searched but didn't find anything pertinent to my question.  Unfortunately, most of my time for music listening is while I'm at work.  I have done this with an external hard drive loaded with FLACs played by foobar2000, as well as a FIIO E10...
