Don't bend your wires, don't touch them at all!
Quote: And I'm not sure where you are getting that info, but between coarse grained Cu and nanocrystalline Cu there is about an order of magnitude difference in the conductivity, not 2. Just look at this paper about differences in conductivity due to twinning in nanocrystalline Cu...- SalsaPodio

Don't bend your wires, don't touch them at all!
You aren't really plastically deforming the Cu unless you bend the cable quite a bit. Therefore you aren't creating any dislocations. Considering you are using drawn wire, there are already a massive amount of dislocations present, not to mention the low stacking fault energy of Cu, which...- SalsaPodio

Headphone Burn-in
Since you said that the laser detector can only detect a fixed amplitude, do you sweep through different amplitude values to get a sense of how much the sample material is oscillating? So let's assume you see a change in amplitude over the 100 hours of testing. The real test to see if burn...- SalsaPodio

Headphone Burn-in
I was going to write a long drawn out response, but I think the following will do. You say that plastic deformation is not significant in the burn in process. Agreed. If that's the case, how could the speaker materials change to alter the sound production qualities? You said...- SalsaPodio

Grado SR352IS / AKG 701 / Beyerdynamic DT880 / Sennheiser HD598/HD600
Here are my opinions. I own Grado 225s (not i), Senn HD598, and have listened to the AKG K701 a lot. Here are some bands you listen to so you know my musical tastes: Exivious, Cloudkicker, Animals as Leaders, The Faceless, CAB, Sylosis, Rush, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, and a little Dream...- SalsaPodio

AKG K702 Omg! Outburst!
Enjoy the new headphones. Don't pay attention to any "burn-in" myths. I listened to a friends brand new K701s and then again when he had over 500 hours on them. Absolutely no difference. It's just your ears adjusting to the sound. Properly amping the K701 does make an actual difference though.- SalsaPodio

Sylosis' new album, Edge of the Earth is fantastic. Don't like it as much as Conclusion of an Age, but it's starting to grow on me, especially Empyreal.- SalsaPodio

Headphone Burn-in
Quote: I'm a materials engineer. You almost brought a tear to my eye because you seem to have a decent understanding of material deformation mechanisms . Well... somewhat, but I can't tell from your post alone. In any event, fiber realignment from normal use is pretty absurd. My...- SalsaPodio

What should my next purchase moving on from Beats By Dre's be?
If he thinks the bass from the Beats was "STRONG and CLEAN" then I doubt he'll like the SR60s.- SalsaPodio

Headphone Burn-in
Quote: I agree with you somewhat. Maybe there is burn in within the first few hours. Maximum. I don't believe in 300+ hour burn in or even 10+ hours. It's just your ears getting acclimated to the sound.- SalsaPodio

Yes Virgina, There is a difference in USB cables
What cable should I get to make the 1s and 0s transfer better. I think my optical cable might be taking some of the 1s and making them 0s, and my music quality is suffering- SalsaPodio
