Yeah... I ordered my V800, and will upgrade later :) It'll be more fun this way, as I'll have another 'minor upgrade', plus I don't own any HD media anyway ^^;;- recca_cool

Review: Violectric V800 DAC
Glad I'm not the only one What is the advantage of using SOtM USB output if I'm going to use a standard USB output to a USB DAC of V800 anyway? It is all digital. I think Intense model is too expensive for the job; FitPC2 looks powerful enough for me to do the job. For an over-all...- recca_cool

Review: Violectric V800 DAC
Loud enough not to damage my ears :) I listen a lot to relatively quiet music such as classical and acoustic pieces (e.g. guitar), so I can hear any noise in the room easily. PC setup and netbook are completely different: To clarify fans for a PC are the bigger type (120-140MM), so...- recca_cool

Review: Violectric V800 DAC
Quote: Because they are noisy (the quietest are ~20ish db), and the 'bad noise' because laptop fans are small and high-rpm type, which makes the noise on higher frequency. I tried few notebooks and netbooks and the fan noise is easily detectable especially when I'm listening to...- recca_cool

Review: Violectric V800 DAC
Speaking of USB inputs..I'm getting V800 soon :) and will use USB input. Did anyone try any of tinygreen PC solutions, like FitPC2? I have a PC but it is very noisy. A fanlsess/silent setup is the best; something that runs windows > Foobar2000 kernel > usb > v800 > v200 > headphones...- recca_cool

I see that most comparisions are meant for HD650, but what about paring V200 & V800 with HD800? I'm considering it as an option now (to buy both) since they are within budget (although I can afford 1k$ more to get a better amp or dac).. So what is your experience on this combo? Keep in mind I...- recca_cool

Need help choosing DAC & Digital Interface for HD800 in a PC setup mostly for classical music, songs and any kind of music that involves string instruments
Thanks all for all the contribution ^_^ Whatever I'll end up with will probably last me a good 5-10 years, so it is very reassuring getting all this feedback. Quote: Yes I'm not going the tube way Is balanced 100% superior than non-balanced setup? If yes, then why manfuacturers...- recca_cool

Thank you PleasantSounds for all the explanation. I doubt I'll go XLR approach, if my understanding is correct, I have to balance my headphones as well which I'm not interested in doing at all at this stage. Please tell me if my understanding of how my setup should be like is correct...- recca_cool

Hello PleasantSounds, Yes I checked, that is why I put a section with what I found out through my research in the forum :) However, I still need educated opinion. You mentioned that an amp is more important than DAC so I actually should be spending money on it, but I also read that...- recca_cool

Quote: Thanks for your reply! The amp, I bought my amp for ~280 Euro back then, and I'm guessing it is an entry-level amp. Edit: I figured out why there is no need for interface.- recca_cool
