Review by 'Quazimoto' on item 'Audio-Technica AIR Dynamic Headphone ATH-AD2000X (Japan Import)'

These are everything you'd expect from a flagship headphone, only MORE, because some flagships have come to disappoint me, even from the more expensive brands. In a lot of markets, I find there is often one brand that stands out as cheaper yet better, and in headphones, I think it's...

Review by 'Quazimoto' on item 'Audio Technica ATH-W1000X'

It took me a while to warm up to this set of ATH-W1000X, because they are just so warm compared to what I'm used to, so it sounded like they lacked the clarity of my other sets (which, to be fair, are excellent and very expensive sets such as the Beyerdynamic T1 and the open ATH-AD2000X) - but...

Heaphones for Classical Music - Through a Laptop - $150 and less

HUH? How has no one here mentioned Audio Technica ATH-AD700X? - Dead easy to drive - Classical is a bit of a highlight for AT with their warm mids and crisp highs - Dunno about in Canada but in Australia you can get them for $139 AU shipped, so I can't imagine they're much more in Canada.

Looking for a good MUSIC media player for PC!

Well, I gave Foobar a go, and while it may be customisable in terms of look and shortcuts etc., it was pretty "basic" in music LIBRARY MANAGEMENT features compared to Helium Music Manager 10. I probably need to give it some more time, but having said that, I did spend a while with it and was...

    ATH-W1000X Thread!

Conquerator did a comparison of them all, use the "search this thread" function and find his comparison - he concludes the HiFiMan pleather ones are the "best", but to his tastes. Personally I'm going to try the HiFiMan velours.

    ATH-W1000X Thread!

You can use the HiFiMan ones or Audio-Technica AD900X pads fit them, or if you want something really classy the AT leather ones from the W5000 and ANV-W3000 (pricey though).

    ATH-W1000X Thread!

So even though HiFiMan call them leather pads, they're actually pleather?   Also, can someone who has tried the VELOUR pads (on these 'phones) please tell me, do they squish in the same as the AT standard ones, or do they have more resistance and thus keep the drivers a bit further from the...

    ATH-W1000X Thread!

Does anyone have a tip on how to make them a bit looser fitting? I know they're a closed headphone but I can barely listen to more than one classical movement (say, 10 minutes) without getting some air from them - I've tried putting them on a large "dummy head" when I'm not using them and that...

Looking for a good MUSIC media player for PC!

Wow... 3-0 to Foobar. NEVER heard of it. I have read at least 3 "top 5" and "top 10" lists on the matter and it's never been mentioned, but I'm taking the 3-0 scoreline here pretty seriously, so why has it not been mentioned in said lists!? Thank you all, by the way.

Looking for a good MUSIC media player for PC!

So, a lot of people can't see where I'm coming from with this, but I don't think ANY of the media player options I've tried has been that great. iTunes - looks like a toy, always trying be intelligent when it just needs to do what I say WMP - what the heck happened there? They had it great...

Please help with deciding between ATH-AD models...

That is also the impression I got.

Please help with deciding between ATH-AD models...

Yeah, according to the box anyway. It doesn't say "Made in..." anywhere on the headphones themselves, just "Japan Made" on the top of the box, and on the back in very fine print "MADE IN JAPAN".

Good replacement for the Xonar STX

Forgive the newbie question - but Hifiman make pads to suit other headphones. in this case the A900X's? Where would I find their range, if so? Thanks.

For what it's worth, the W1000X's are Japan made.
