As long as you use laptop as source, there is no way the sound can be as clear as an ipod or cd player

You should try different DACs in an audio shop to see whether you can hear the difference. If not, then it isn't worth the upgrade

the current noise from computers such as laptop cannot be easily isolated. I have a usb interface that use external linear DC power supply to isolate the usb 5V pin from computer and the only physical connection is the two usb singal pin. The noise is still there.

I am satisfied with my Blaze S-1 with Q701, but they are just too big to carry. mdr-1r is all I need for portable.

I just found it is really necessary to change the cable for Q701, not for sound quality, but the original ones are TOO long

I have install this in win8(64), the audio CPL only has: audio format: 16bit 32000Hz And it is grey which means I cannot change it. Is it right? Thanks
