IMO the M50s don't benefit much from an amp but they would definitely sound better with a dedicated DAC / sound card. IMO you should go with the D1100s if possible. Try using them for a few months (since you've already tried the M50s) and if you don't like them you can put them on the FS forum...

Nope. I didn't. I decided to wait and call them after they are back in stock. I am waiting to see if Denon is going to update the AHD series.

Did anyone buy a D5000 recently? They seem to be out of stock everywhere (Is Denon updating their line ???).  I'm planning to call up J&R and order one. What do you guys think would be a good price for a bargain on J&R? Would $400 be too low?
