+1 on the KNS 8400 I am listening to them now .......Classical at the moment good sound stage they do need a decent dedicated sound card or headphone amp to enjoy their potential . not for a portable they will work but cord is way long for that and they won't be at their best there . They...- preferedu

Sennheiser HDVD800 Headphone Amplifier
Senn says at their website they are using Burr Brown dacs (now Texas instruments ) I've had Sony ES gear that had Burr Brown dacs they were decent. would be nice to get a part number and a data sheet. I imagine the outputs would be discrete class a like the lehmanaudio stuff. .- preferedu

Xonar DGX vs higher end cards
only difference between the Xonar DG and DGX electrically is the PCI bridge chip and of course the connection . it was cheaper to do that than desighn a whole new pcie card . Sound cards in that price range are an endangered species with on board solutions getting better.- preferedu

Need to know what the Sennheiser HD 202 headphones are like???
Can't tell you but I bought a pair of hd203 they are on ear not to my liking sent them back veiled and muddy sounding but they didn't cost much .easy to drive plenty of bass though . Have a pair of KRK 6400's and a pair of senn HD280 pro 's both are good phones I favor the KRK's though . YMMV.- preferedu

I had rhrapsody back in 2005-6 Sound quality was fair at that time but not as good as Mog today. I have Mog now sound quality OK I have only tried free Slacker and AOL radio which is powered by Slacker so I was only getting the 128KB stream there . I think the AOL radio free has no time... -
POLL $100.00 ~ headphone choice from 5 listed 8.22.12
Quote: Thanks to all that replied. I'm thinking that MalveauX may have a valid concern especially considering the KRK's I have were originally $150.00 I got them at $119.00 so I'm thinking about the Shure SRH840's . The thing is I don't want to get phones I like less than the...- preferedu

Specific CANS for very specific needs.
I have The KRK KNS 8400 it is a monitor headphone reasonably flat not perfect but reasonable can be driven with a computer headphone out but like most studio phones an amp or interface feeds them better and they sound better. Isolation is good .They are very revealing to the point of being un...- preferedu
