Senn says at their website they are using Burr Brown dacs (now Texas instruments ) I've had Sony ES gear that had Burr Brown dacs they were decent. would be nice to get a part number and a data sheet.  I imagine the outputs would be discrete class a like the lehmanaudio  stuff. . 

only difference between the Xonar DG and DGX  electrically  is the PCI  bridge chip and of course the connection . it was cheaper to do  that than desighn a whole new pcie card . Sound cards in that price range are an endangered species  with on board solutions getting better.  

Senn  'HD 280's  $99.00 US were $200.00 us when they first came out. 

Can't tell you but I bought a pair of hd203 they are on ear not to my liking  sent them back veiled and muddy sounding but they didn't cost much .easy to drive plenty of bass though . Have a pair of KRK 6400's and a pair of senn HD280 pro 's  both are  good phones I favor the KRK's though . YMMV.

Thanks for the post recently ordered an Xonar DSX hope it will sound bettter and louder on phones KRK 8400 than  the on board Realtec ALC 888s  Will probably roll some op amps in it also . That was the main reason I bought it over the DGX .
