    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

How do these fare with Dark Ambient, like Lustmord to stuff like Bohren & Der Club of Gore, and prog, like king crimson, camel etc?  I saw them mentioned by several people in the metal thread but would be looking for an all purpose can that can do that stuff, as well as some classical and jazz

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution

How do the thx00, audeze sine, and meze 99 fare for non metal listening?. I see that theyre all fairly well liked around here but i'd be most interested in if someone could offer an opinion on how they do with oldschool prog like king crimson and camel, as well as dark ambient stuff like...

depending on your definition I do. if it includes core and nu metal then i don't. But otherwise everything from the classic stuff up through to funeral doom and progressive power metal. For example, I saw Rhapsody the day after I got back from maryland deathfest a few years ago

I liked it tbh, but i wouldn't call it groundbreaking. To me it's very similar to alcest and a lot of the blackgaze bands, except it sounds different because of the female vocals

Vale of pnath, and cephalic carnage are two other colorado bands. From the touring schedules i see for bands it seems that they get enough going out there. *edit* allegaeon too.

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution

Just to play devil's advocate, are you 100% sure that a neutral sound is what you're looking for? I mean, i've seen you mention that a lot and many people here like that sound, but if what you're looking for is actually something different then it might explain why a lot of headphones aren't...

very little for sure, I do see that some international tours have stops in Korea, so there must be some sort of audience and scene.  about the only band i've heard from the country that i might recommend to someone would be Holymarsh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hA49z__p00g

I think that's quite possibly the best way to describe it. those types of bands don't really have the technical prowess or song structure to deliver the type of power you usually get from metal, but they make up for it with that raw passion.  There's a fest specifically devoted to this type of...

yep, they played 2 shows in new york city while i was living there.  One of which was i think the vocalist's birthday.   Definitely great performers and the sound translates to a good live set.   Pretty much if you see a Thorncross album cover or the Nuclear War Now label involved you can kind...

Yeah, they write from a different place for sure. a lot of the bands from indonesia, singapore, and australia scenes are more in line with the war metal ethos.  It loses most of the atmosphere and such from the second wave of black metal.  I personally find it to be more of a throwback sound...

yeah that film goes all over, brazil, china, indonesia, japan, india.  Sam Dunn, the director behind Global Metal has a bunch of great metal related works.  This one is more relevant though since everyone here is familiar with metal.  The first one Metal: A Headbangers Journey is a fun watch but...
