    New Member Introductions thread

I'm actually not new (joined in 2013 according to my bio), but I've been inactive for several years. Decided to do a nice desktop setup, which has renewed my interest in this site.

    KEF new headphones!

I think the review that said people with a narrow head will have trouble was spot on. The only adjustment is up/down, they get wider as you adjust them down. I believe my melon is pretty average, I don't have an issue with them falling off. I can walk around the house, empty the washer and...

    KEF new headphones!

I have a minor comfort issue, but it's more to do with the fact that I wear glasses. If I have the headphones on for a few hours, I have to adjust my glasses up so the earpiece isn't being clamped behind my ear.

Choosing an "audiophile" DAP to replace iPod classic

I've come to the conclusion that if you want to store your entire library on a portable, it's hard to beat the iPod Classic.

Review and discussions - Audioengine D1 24/96 USB and Optical DAC/amp for laptops and computers

The gift card kind of limits me, plus I would be getting the D1 for just $70 out of pocket. The other option I'm considering is the TEAC HD-01, but that's another $230. I think I'd rather put that money toward some portable devices.

    KEF new headphones!

Quote: I don't have to have the music up very loud to make the television inaudible. If I pause the music, though, I can hear things well enough to carry on a conversation. Which is what I prefer, I don't care for that anechoic chamber sensation. Personally, I think they would be just fine...

Review and discussions - Audioengine D1 24/96 USB and Optical DAC/amp for laptops and computers

I have a $100 gift card at Crutchfield, I'm thinking of spending it on a D1. I haven't been able to find anything else there that interests me.

    KEF new headphones!

I've been listening to them straight from my iPhone, they sound awesome. I've also tried them on an old iPod Nano, although I only listened to one song (Van Halen). I haven't tried them with an amp yet, that's a week or two away from happening.

    KEF new headphones!

Quote: Not sure what kind of music you like, but last night I rediscovered the Claude Bolling / Yo-Yo Ma recording "Suite for Cello and Jazz Piano Trio." It was mesmerizing, but you have to like classical / jazz.

    KEF new headphones!

I have found that if I adjust them so that they are centered up and down on my ear and so the headband just lightly touches the top of my head, they are extremely comfortable and sound fantastic. I had about a three hour listening session with them last night with a wide variety of music, my...

    KEF new headphones!

Well, there was a box waiting for me on the front porch when I got home for work. Golf league prevented me from giving them a good listen, I've got them plugged in right now. They remind me a lot of KEF speakers, which is a good thing.
