Small, cheap, active speakers to use with a PC

If noise is an issue, why don't you get a pair of cheap IEMs or regular earbuds for that matter and split them from the output of the laptop.   WAAAAAAAY more fidelity and bass output you can get from a speaker that's 40 euros.

emu 0202 usb vs 0404 usb

0202 does not have balanced outputs and digital input and output. 0404 has balanced outputs and digital (both coaxial and optical) digital input and output. 0404 also has DTS and AC3 passthrough. I have had the 0404 after a month I sold my 0202 and IIRC, it is able to drive my AD700s to a...

    <$100 non-portable amp for dt770 pro80

The Little Dot mark II is a headphone amp, you would plug it in from the line-out of your sound card. Get a 1/8 to RCA cable, available at most electronics stores. Note that garbage in, garbage out. You did not mention your existing soundcard. If you have a crappy one, you may be better off...

M-Audio Audiophile DX4 speakers for $80- Good deal?

Look at your local craigslist and search for m-audio bx5a, they sell at a low of $100 and have 5" woofers. Bigger woofer = better bass. And yes, I have had them.

I'm not getting into the argument of passive VS active, I'll just speak from my own experiece. Have not read all the posts but I just got a mint used pair of Mackie HR824's for $600 (1200 MSRP IIRC). Look at your local craigslist. These are FLAT +/- 1.5 dB from 39-20 kHz, 8" woofers...

    Unamped Zune headphone advice

You could always sell in the classifieds if you don't like it. FYI I usually listen to at least 15 out of 20 volume in my Zune 30. The AD700s are VERY comfortable. I've ready people say that the AT series are the most comfortable headphones. BTW if you buy it from directly from Amazon...
