Could this be an output impedance difference between the SE and Balanced outputs? What headphone are you using, and can you replicate the issue with headphones of materially different impedance?

Sorry for the late reply. I think $1500 is extremely generous for a SS amp for a ZMF. Per my post, I don't think you have to go crazy to get everything out of them with SS. I think I higher end topping would be a great paring and compliment an OTL amp well.

It’s an LC 42in OLED on a monitor arm. I use a Dell thunderbolt dock in between it and a laptop (easy switch between work and personal laptops). Highly recomended.
