  You have to choose carefully in this price range! No old Esoteric but world class dacs. I hardly think that some owner of Meitner MA1 for example would like to change it for this Yulong DAC after listening  on quality speakers. And from second hand it goes for $4000..still expensive but..

Some is made for profits, Rudistor seems like good example. Another have beautiful design of chasis etc which is sure very expensive like Dark Star, BHSE etc. There is also products with quite expensive parts. And there is also many paymants around which company have to pay costs, fee...

I have one question Chefguru. I actualy think brighter Grados like RS1/GS1000 etc. could be super with tubes because at least from what I have listened they have a little higher mids and treble and brighter character. Did you try it on your Leben? But PS500/PS1000 etc. are probably warmer so...

Be careful on classical Adam's, Dynaudio's, ATC, Genelec, PMC, APS, KRK etc. Don't buy it blindly. Important thing is on these smaller nearfields it is not big sound, you have to find one which will suit their tonal character to you which is not easy find. For price I would recomend you Swans...

Yes you have truth about HP2 it can be found but I thought HP2i which is pretty rare, even I have never seen them on FS. But this thread is not about these headphone, neither RS1! I am sure RS1 can be unique for certain music but overal I hardly believe there will be on level MS Pro Ulti, Magnum...
