Any old fart head-fi'ers still around?

Well... come to think of it... Baccarat Rouge 540 has a sort of fresh souffle smell to it. But would rather steer you toward Tuscan Leather. If Tony Montana had a cologne, this would be it. Leather, raspberries, cocaine (yes, seriously), and cigarettes. It's actually quite good. You'll either be...

Totally, mon! Tube rolling and fragrance rolling. Same part of that OCD detecting and measuring brain. :D

Any old fart head-fi'ers still around?

Seems another new hobby sneaked into the roster since the Feb 2020 check-in: Niche fragrances. It started during the lockdown. Since I couldn't go anywhere, figured I might as well take a "smellcation" to faraway places in a bottle. I've since acquired about 350 decants, full bottles, and...

Any old fart head-fi'ers still around?

Haven't been Head-Fi'ing since 2016, but after getting a PM about an old tube rolling article I figured I'd check in. Currently I only have a pair of Sony WH-1000XM2 noise-cancelling headphones, but they sure do a lot for the coin. Portable, quiet, comfy, good quality. Hard to beat the...

REVIEW: Decware Select Zen CSP2 Tube Headphone Amp

I wish I had tried the Tung Sol 5Y3, because the smaller 5Y3GT was nowhere near the top of my list in terms of sonics.

REVIEW: Decware Select Zen CSP2 Tube Headphone Amp

You're right! Rectifiers can influence the sound a lot more than you'd expect (depending upon the circuit, of course). Decware CSP lets everything right through. But you can go cheap on the two drivers. The default 6N1P's are fine... doesn't change the sound much. Tried some megabuck tubes &...

Comparisons: 36 of the Top Closed/Portable Headphones Around

I managed to exchange those $75 RDC's for another pair, and the replacement doesn't squeal. Nice n' quiet. Now I'm really happy with the isolation & noise cancelling. :)   Still... the B&W P7's taunt...

After watching this guy's video review of the HP50, I have to agree they look very much like nerd-cans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-0fO8VgqpQ

You know, that might be why they were only $75. Oh well... I'll mentally tune out the noise within the noise-cancelling. *facepalm*   BTW thanks for putting together such a cool review! Hopefully we'll see more offerings in the future from other companies.

    Sony MDR-10R Impressions Thread

Yep, amping definitely helps. Sound quality is much better from my laptop headphone outs than via the iPhone.   Now off to find a small & decent portable amp. Or just deal.

After reading this thread, I decided to take a gamble on the Sony MDR10RDC (same as the MDR10RNC but without the iPhone-friendly mic cable). Bought it via an eBay open-box special for about $75 plus shipping.   Keeping the noise out? Great! Very quiet and comfortable. It fulfills its main...

Isn't that the truth? I decided to take a gamble on the Sony MDR10RDC (same as the MDR10RNC but without the iPhone-friendly mic cable). Bought it via an eBay open-box special for about $75 plus shipping.   As far as keeping the noise out? Great! Very quiet and very comfortable. It fulfills...

REVIEW: Decware Select Zen CSP2 Tube Headphone Amp

Agreed the Mullards are tops and wish I tried the GZ34 in my exhaustive roundup. Your description sounds pretty compelling. But Electro-Harmonix 6922's? In my CSP2/HD800 rig they sounded verrrry metallic and lacking in detail. Actually in all the amps I've ever owned the EH's never did...

REVIEW: Decware Select Zen CSP2 Tube Headphone Amp

http://www.decware.com/newsite/CSP3.html   Optional 3 or 4-pin XLR headphone jacks... but not sure about inputs. Might have to request a custom option for that if possible. Let us know what Steve says if you contact him about it.
