I believe it's because the shield is connected on just one end and they want you to connect it properly. I believe it's with the shield connected at the receiving component not the source component.

You can try connecting a thin wire to the chassis of all your components to see if it helps. Any screw on the chassis would do. That way the ground on all the components are connected directly with the one wire. I was taught that trick by an electrician back in the day to get rid of a hum I had...

I agree with you that I would love to see the good old days of minimum weight, maximum length, width, and engine volume. That for me was what F1 was all about. But I just don't see anybody doing that anytime soon.

I'm into the fourth month with these cans. And what I've noticed is they seem to wake up at moderate to high volumes. I don't know if anybody else has noticed this.......   But now that I'm thinking about it, I am listening to Rock

Yes and can you also tell us what aspect of the sound was underwhelming..soundstage, highs, mids, etc.....   Or like in my case I found the upper bass hump too exaggerated. Because in that case maybe you want to give the Hifiman HE-400s a try.
