Recieved my 598s yesterday. I don't have much to compare with, but I really like them. I like the audio and they are very comfortable.

Is it even possible to use the 598s publicly without annoying everybody around you? Considering the open design.

Aha, that's sad. If I remember correctly they did the music to an anime I enjoyed. I don't follow jpop news, so I don't get to know any of the details. I mainly listen to jpop through Internet radio stations, since there are so few other streaming alternatives.

MOG doesn't work outside US. That's disappointing, guess I have no choice but to stay on Spotify then.

I gave those two albums a try, but they were a little too monotone for my taste. Personally I prefer the type of drone that Tim Hecker produces. But maybe I'm just currently not in the right mood or mindset.

The amount of bass isn't a big priority for me. I value the comfort and natural sound higher, which the 598 according to reviews has. And I have already placed my order, so regardless it's too late for any regrets (I don't believe I will have any though). :)   I'm also skeptic towards burn in...

Because of the burn in or did it just take time to get used to the sound?

Nice, I went an subscribed to it. Some of them I have already heard and enjoy, like Tim Hecker, Oneohtrix Point Never, Mogwai and Julianna Barwick, so the rest will probably be fun to listen to.   I can also recommend Bvdub, he has a lot of EPs that are available on Spotify.

Ordered a HD 598 yesterday along with a FiiO E10 DAC. It will be my first "real" pair of headphones, I have only had ones for ~30 bucks up until now, so it will be really fun. Can't wait. :)
