Astell & Kern AK70 MKII with dual DAC

I wouldn't want to listen to anything at full whack on my UK AK70II, it seems plenty loud, especially when wired! My ears would not be happy.

Astell & Kern AK70 MKII with dual DAC

Anybody want to give some recomendations for headphones to use with this DAP, budget of up to around £1000, but ideally half that. I've now been trying my old Grado 80's with the AK70II but they don't seem a good match for it, too bright, not enough bass, I have tried adding my old Graham Slee...

Astell & Kern AK70 MKII with dual DAC

Ahh, very useful post Steve, cheers for that. I can stop messing about desperately trying to notice a difference between different sources! Presumably the P7's won't be doing the double DAC thing, might be worth trying a set of those, or at least trying some of the other headphones in the shop...

Astell & Kern AK70 MKII with dual DAC

My guess would be to power difficult to power headphones.

Astell & Kern AK70 MKII with dual DAC

I do not have any noise or interference with my PX and AK70 MkII - except if I'm using it cabled and with a usb charging cable plugged in and then only before the music starts playing. I'm thinking of returning my AK70 though because the PX's are the only headphones I'll be using and when using...

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

Opinions from those of you who also have the Astel & Kern AK70 MkII. I've been trying to compare the sound between the wired and Bluetooth with my PX's when using the AK70 MkII as the source and to be honest, apart from there being more volume with the wired connection, I'm struggling to...

    Bowers & Wilkins PX Noise-Cancelling Over-ears

I've had my set for a few days now, in fact I'm already on my second set! The first set suddenly decided to no longer work with the cable and the volume buttons packed up. Thankfully the local shop I bought them from swapped them out straight away. The only slight inconvenience really is that...

portable amp for Galaxy Note 2 and Grado SR80i heaphones?

Thanks Cakensaur, yes, I now have the Voyager. I'm pretty pleased with it so far, previous owner claimed it had only had about 10 hours use, so if that's correct I've got some way to go before it's burnt in. The size of the E11 would have been great but I hope the voyager is a step up in terms...

Now have a Voyager ordered, nearly new off ebay, looking forward to hearing how it sounds with my Grados!

portable amp for Galaxy Note 2 and Grado SR80i heaphones?

LOL Nixon Think I'm going to try and get my hands on a Graham Slee Voyager and see how that sounds.... Might take a punt on one of those little dac's at some point, they are cheap enough...

portable amp for Galaxy Note 2 and Grado SR80i heaphones?

Thanks guys, some food for thought there. Nixon, I think I did read all the way through that thread, lol good read though. My problem is a bit that as a newbie and having read through a lot on this forum over the last few days I'm having to take in a lot of new information and terminology...

portable amp for Galaxy Note 2 and Grado SR80i heaphones?

I'm beginning to think what I actually want most might be just the amp, the DAC in the Note 2 is supposed to be ok, on a par nearly with the iphone 4? So am I right in thinking that if I'm after the more fuller and impressive sound, richer, more controlled, better bass, that what I want is an...

portable amp for Galaxy Note 2 and Grado SR80i heaphones?

Hi all. I've been plowing through these forums for the last few days and largely as a result of what I've read here and after testing a few headphones bought a pair of Grado SR80i's to play on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Now while I am very pleased with what I am hearing (being a non audiophile...
