Australian Headphone Retailers and Reputations [LISTING]

+1 for Wicked Digital.    I bought my integrated amp and floors standing speakers from them. They didn't have the color I wanted for the speakers and managed to get a pair in for me the very next day.   Good experience all round.

Quote: I won't be making it up myself. I get most of my cables from a local Australian dealer:   http://www.uglycable.com.au/ugly-ultra-premium-digital-coax-single-rca-cable.html   They are priced well and sound great to my ears. I haven't had the chance to try any of the more...

    Audio-gd Digital Interface

Quote: I've got some spare heavy gauge coax cables so I'll do an A/B and see if there's any audible difference.    I guess using the coax input will bypass any possibility of getting the "drop outs" others have reported.

Just ordered a DI with the PSU and upgraded clock. Should be here in a few days if the shipping is as quick as my NFB-3.1   I run coax from my motherboard out and was initially going to run coax to the DI rather than USB.    Now I'm wondering is there any advantage to running USB to the...

    Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones

I took my Alessandro MS-1s and Fiio E7 to my folks place for our Christmas getaway. I keep looking for them and find that my Dad has snuck off with them to use with his Macbook. He said the clarity was "amazing". Wish I brought my RS-1s now ;)   Best non-audiophile reaction was from my...

Pictures of your computer rigs! Post them here!

Yeah they had the flattest frequency response in that price range. It's funny, everything the salesman tried to push on me just sounded like consumer mini-system fare. Bloated bass, recessed mids, and a spiked top end. I said "those Yamaha's have the most uninteresting and flat sound out of...

Pictures of your computer rigs! Post them here!

This room is such a mess at the moment. I'm in between recording spaces so recording equipment has been jammed in including 15 acoustic panels (out of frame)!   Hopefully I can post an after shot when we find a new recording space to move to. Keyboards, mics, stands, mbox, profire, cables...

    Is the extra DAC beneficial?

I had a similar chain to yours: Mbox Mini (External Sound Card) >> Woo WA6 >> DT880 (600ohm)   I was constantly wondering whether a better source would be a significant improvement and had my eye on a DacMagic. Curiosity got the best of me and I grabbed one on eBay.   As soon as it...

Pictures of Your Portable Rig [Part XIV]

I think the RE0s pair really well with the E7 and its first EQ setting (or bass setting). The RE0 are relatively light weight in the bottom end but the E7 EQ gives just enough warmth to put them in the sweet spot for me.   The E7 is such a nice little amp/dac for the price, and it's leagues...

    Headphone Stands

Here I was looking at all my Headphones wondering where on earth to put them and the answer was sitting right next to me!   IKEA Stolmen Headphone Rack ;)     Not very attractive I know but shipping on those sexy Woo Audio stands has pushed them to a 2011 purchase.
