HD600 in the form of an IEM with very good isolation

They don't enjoy being carried away from home, I'd be afraid of breaking them in a pouch myself. When I have moved them around, I restore them in the case they came with. I'm glad you're enjoying them though. They really come through with performance when you need them to, never let me down...

HD600 in the form of an IEM with very good isolation

Quote: Congratulations! ;) You're really considering using the HD600 for portable use? You'll be missing out on so much of it's potential, but you already know that. To me they sound best on a neutral, studio quality source with a neutral amp. Run some lossless, well mastered...

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

Add me to the club for ER-4S ;)   They're not difficult to wear over the ear, but you may look alien when it comes to style if you're using them outdoors. First I strap the cable up around my ears then I insert with the bottom cable (the red/blue plug which usually go downward) upside down...

HD600 in the form of an IEM with very good isolation

Got the DBA-02 MKII. These are awesome! They seem to have a more powerful sound in comparison to ER-4S, leaving the the ER-4S sounding thin, the mids wet and compressed-ish while DBA-02 MKII more raw, but the ER-4S definitely still feel the trusty pair for reference. The comfort is almost the...

HD600 in the form of an IEM with very good isolation

I tried the foam tips and they're slightly more comfortable (still painful) and definitely isolate more but the sound is suddenly muffled so they're no solution for me. I have ramp style ear canals it seems.   I ordered the UM3X. Next I'll try and find the Sony EX1000 and Earsonics SM64

HD600 in the form of an IEM with very good isolation

Quote: I haven't really attempted to compare them yet. The higher mids (~4khz+) definitely resemble the HD600 but unfortunately they don't extend as far. They also lack the sparkle around 14khz. By specs they cutoff at 16khz so that's expected. HD600 have a warmer attack response where the...

HD600 in the form of an IEM with very good isolation

So surprisingly the ER-4S arrived! Seems the store just never updated the order status. I wasn't surprised by the sound however, they're almost exactly as I imagined them to be and they're great! Those mids are so accurate, they're to die for. I can instantly hear tones in my music that...

HD600 in the form of an IEM with very good isolation

The Etymotic ER-4S and Fischer Audio DBA02 MKII have already been purchased. No return /refund policy. I just placed an online order for the TDK BA200 as well though. I just noticed I have spent over $600 and haven't used an IEM since the 90s. I'm terrified!

HD600 in the form of an IEM with very good isolation

Are the UM3X overly colored and muddy sounding? There is a huge processing delay on my ER-4S.  Supplier in Hong Kong. I found a local that had the DBA-02 MKII which wasn't mentioned in this thread but they had a dropped price so I bought them too. Browsing around here I can read they're accurate...

HD600 in the form of an IEM with very good isolation

Grado GR10 and Sony EX1000 seem amazing, but isolation is also key here and unfortunately they appear to be average in that area. I was just having a look at headroom's graph in comparison to the ER-4S and I find their similarity very interesting...

HD600 in the form of an IEM with very good isolation

A friend off-forum suggested that he has heard great things of j-phonic K2 SP which are also Japan-only. All the good stuff appear to be in Japan only :) I need to visit one day! :) I just ordered the ER-4S, which should arrive by Thursday, however if I remember correctly my last ear check I...

HD600 in the form of an IEM with very good isolation

FitEar F111 are hard to come by indeed. Wow! They seem perfect though. For the sake of information, how's the isolation in comparison to the ER-4? As for ER-4S/P feels weird to increase the impedance through the cable adaptor then decrease again once driven through a headphone amp hehe. Cheers

HD600 in the form of an IEM with very good isolation

Thank you for the additional suggestions. Searching deeper into them, the constant reputable mentions of sound accuracy, detailed upper-mid and highs, and graph analysis the sound I imagine them to be seem to suit my preference, so I have ER-4S at the top of my list, but I'm a little worried...

HD600 in the form of an IEM with very good isolation

Thank you for clarifying the Etymotic models. I was actually just looking at them and noticed many different ER-4 models. The most suitable store I found them on name them "Etymotic ASS ER-4 MicroPro" but the specifications and images match exactly the ER-4S which was a bit confusing ;) There...

HD600 in the form of an IEM with very good isolation

Oops, I just noticed I posted in the full-size section. My post was; Hello, I've been using the HD600 for a couple of months now and they're by far the best headphones I've ever experienced for any use, so I've decided to take them in to the studio, however since they're open and lack any...
