++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum
Amazing that I've had an account on here for over a decade... Currently amping with a FiiO E10 but will probably get something bigger and shinier soon. I'm looking for headphones with visceral bass in the $300-$600 range. I've enjoyed listening with ATH-M50s for a while now. I solidly...- Kevin143

Best Sub-$200 Dorm Set-Up
I definitely recommend going with a pair of decent bookshelf speakers and a vintage amplifer. I had a pair of Paradigm Titans and used my dad's old Yamaha amp, and they were absolutely perfect. Another consideration, if you choose to go the vintage amp/bookshelf speakers route is that it is... -

Full review: Sonic Impact T-amp (long)
I just find the idea that a $30 amplifier is beating a quality $350 receiver to be exciting. I can't wait to see what the DIY'ers will be able to do with one of these, or maybe Sonic Impact themselves will release a a version of their amp that does 50 watts per channel and is made of higher...- Kevin143

Ety ER-6i, first time user questions
I have Ety ER-6's and ER-4Ps. The way I usually test for a seal is to rub my thumb and index finger together right next to my ear. Normally or with a poor seal, one would hear that sound clearly but it should be completely silent or almost gone with a good seal. Once you learn what the...- Kevin143

One thing that could conceivably be different is that Lateralus is an HDCD. However, I can't imagine that your computer would be taking advantage of that fact.- Kevin143

Why are the phones included such a crap?
The Rio Karma comes with Sennheiser MX300s, which are certainly an order of magnitude above most other bundled headphones. Although it doesn't seem explicitly marketed that way, Sonicblue seems to be targeting people who care about sound quality with the included MX300s as well as OGG and FLAC...- Kevin143

Where do you legally download your music from?
Right -- they are encoding the files from lossless to your chosen bitrate, but only on certain files and when you pay for the priveledge. Even on so-called "online encoding exclusive" files, you must pay extra to have your file encoded from the original lossless file and not the 384 kb/s MP3... -
Where do you legally download your music from?
You do have to be careful with allofmp3, though. I've run into a couple albums that were poorly encoded, with bad titles or clicks/static. Also, althogh some files are available as FLAC and shn, allofmp3 charges twice as much for the priveledge of having your files encoded from the original... -
Where do you legally download your music from?
I use the quasi-legal Russian mp3 service allofmp3.com. 1 cent per megabyte, encoded however you want, including all of the LAME presets, OGG, and Musepack. It's quasi-legal in America. In Russia, it's 100% legal. Basically, in Russia, the copyright law allows an online distribution... -

What are you listening to _right now_?
Aenema from Tool's 8-25-2002 show. I'm listening on Sennheiser HD-497s plugged into a SB Live original. -
SuperMini Amp-a?
Why can't it just come with a digital volume control with two buttons, a volume up and a volume down button? I've never designed an amp... is there something signifigantly more expensive or difficult about that kind of volume control?- Kevin143
