Quote: Again KG Jag, thanks for your response. The above headphones are out of my current price range though. I think for the moment I'm going to go with a set of the Sony MDR-V6's. Any experience of the MDR-V6's? From what I've read they're not too expensive, have great portability, sound...

Thanks for your response KG Jag. At the moment yes. As they would be for home and portable use, open cans would be great for home use but not for on the go unfortunately.

Dear head-fiers, Im currently searching for a new pair of cans. This will be my first proper set. This is probably my 3rd post. Since the first post I purchased a pair of Shure SRH940's. I adored them, but after two weeks the hinge adjustment broke. There was plenty of everything in them. The...

Recently purchased a pair of Shure SRH-940's. Absolutely adored them! For me the sound quality was simply, sublime. However after only two weeks the arm that allows you to adjust the size cracked. Unfortunately I can't recommend them as the build quality is below par! Before I purchased the...

I've been debating between the Shure SRH-840's and AKG K550's. I've been leaning more towards the shure's to be honest and was just wondering what the consensus was on the Shure SRH-940's and if they are a whole lot better (sound/build quality) than the 840's. Are they worth that extra bit more...

Quote: Thanks for your reply. I was leaning towards them for a long time as its clearly evident that the build quality was phenomenal and they are pretty attractive. Not a necessity but a bonus. Have you had a run of both of them? (Shures and AKG's). I heard unless you have a biggish head...

Quote: Thanks again for your reply. I was under the impression that the beyerdynamic's were more bass orientated? From your reply though, its sounds like I was mislead.   Soundstage is one thing to me but the sound reproduction is more important to me. I'm certainly perplexed. Is the...

Quote: Thanks for your response. I was inclined to go for them but I was a bit hesitant as I want to make the right choice. Would they give the best sound reprodution in your opinion? Whats their soundstage like? I'm currently using an old pair of Technics RP-F290's so you know what I'm...

I'm finally getting around to buying my first pair of decent headphones. I've been putting it off but the time has come. I've been researching for a bit now and my choices have fallen down to these three. (Recommendations are welcome). Financially, my choices are the Audio Technica ATH-M50's...
