replace sound magic e10 cables?
So have had success. Had to switch out cables from my first attempt as the micro-phonics from the fairly stiff cable was hideous I can see why the original cable was so soft to help reduce this. My first cable were core strands from a 5 core data cable that used high purity copper...- Jetblackstar

replace sound magic e10 cables?
Ok, answered my own question. First off saw some images of the E10s with custom cables fitted, in a forum in a foreign language I presumed it was possible. The Driver was un mutilated and the job looked clean. So I just played with them, knowing they were broken and any damage wasn't...- Jetblackstar

replace sound magic e10 cables?
TLRD; has anyone replaced the cables on IEM's? So I loved my SoundMagic E10's. £35 when I first got them and done me very well. They met with an incident with my GF's hamster whom chewed through the thin cable. At the time I resisted the urge to kill the thing and instead focused my energy on...- Jetblackstar

Android phones and USB DACs
Eagerly awaiting this, even if my lil Samsung Galaxy Mini S550 never gets it I'll gladly upgrade to a phone that does support it. Carrying this blasted Linux like device with an SD slot and playing software around as my phone anyway, adding on my new iBasso D-Zero DAC/AMP could turn it...- Jetblackstar

Portable player volume and Headphone amps
Interesting point. Playing with my lil Sony MDR-EX71 and think they are being more tolerant to dropping the Clip+s volume a tad and letting the amp boost the rest. The amp still gives a vast improvement in richness and detail than the Clip+ alone, but without having to make my Clip+ peddle so...- Jetblackstar

Got these for a birthday (so no idea on how much was paid). Had them a good few years, think I got them in 09 but could have easily been much earlier (04?) Because there a gift I've always resisted replacing them. The Y split actually cracked after a year and very nearly was the end of them...- Jetblackstar

Portable player volume and Headphone amps
ooo Nice, I never realised that. Shame they screwed up the successor Fuze+ with it's capacitive d-pad, but here's hoping they fix it for the next release of that line (Must be due soon if they came out with the Clip Zip?). Many thanks, I'll try out a Fuze original and LOD. Went for...- Jetblackstar

Portable player volume and Headphone amps
Thanks H20Fidelity, it seems to be a common question but being the irk I am the replies I'd seen had never really answered my question. You guys have helped a lot. I think I'm starting to find this myself from pure testing. Dam our need for good quality. Higher volume out to the amp will...- Jetblackstar

Portable player volume and Headphone amps
Re the 6db (might not be db I just realised it's might just be Rockbox's numbering system, not sure); Yeah I'll stay away from that, pretty sure your right at that level it will be the OS doing the amplification. Normal listening level when directly on the Clip is about -15. I...- Jetblackstar

Portable player volume and Headphone amps
Ok, so I've recently stepped into the world of portable Amplifiers and bought a iBasso D-Zero. Over the moon with it for powering my Denon AH-D2000s and AKG 702's in the office. However I'm in a quandry about using it with my Sansa Clip+ player as a pure Amp (not Dac). My question is...- Jetblackstar

iBasso D-Zero
Can anyone comment on the D-Zero compared to the D2+ Boa? I know the DAC side is ni on identical, and as I understand the Amp section is better. But how much better? Historically I'd been drooling over the D2+ for a long time and the price difference on the D-Zero made me jump at it...- Jetblackstar

It took a good long time to burn these puppies in. From forum advice put 120 odd hours burn in on them before I critically judged them them. In truth I almost sold them. Not because they weren't excellent headphones but just because my personal taste is for richer more warming base rather than...- Jetblackstar

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum
My breadth of field of headphone isn't huge but the Denon 2000s certainly match your request for closed back and base Rich. I wouldn't call them base heavy as they balance in the mids and treble very well. On their own there good. With a good amp there gorgeous. There also very comfy for long...- Jetblackstar
