    Got an email back from Grado saying the Varathane should not have any effect on the sound. Not sure how/why it would..be was worth asking.

    So, we've concluded that they are glossy...Would the Varathane have an affect on sound? That's all I'm concerned about.

    Think it may just be the flash? And from looking at pictures..to me the older RS series Grado's do seem to be a bit glossier.
