Good advice regarding early speculation about the LCD-4's merits. One thing I do know though is that they will have to be an exceptional design to better the SQ's of the HE1000's!- Gray

Thanks for your comments. Great minds think alike, as they say! I thought my LCD-X's were real keepers until I listened to the HE1000's partnering the Vega and the Violectric V281. Like you say...different ball park. I am a huge fan of Audeze headphones...but dare I say it....they sound a bit...- Gray

Auralic Taurus MKII vs Violectric V281
If you are still interested I have just posted a review of the HE1000's and Violectric V281,having just replaced my Taurus mk2 amp with the German amp. Its on the Official HIFIMAN HE1000 impressions thread. Only posted it today. The main conclusion of my review is that the Violectric is a...- Gray

Your welcome! Whereas the HE1000 are actually quite easy to drive ...compared to say the HE-6...they undoubtedly benefit from some exotic watts and some real muscle. I can more or less guarantee you will notice quite significant improvements in the sound quality once you pair the HE1000's with...- Gray

I did this review for another music forum I subscribe to so a lot of what I say will be preaching to the converted, I realise that but it may help some who are dithering and havnt yet committed to buying a pair? Well all I can say is perhaps I have struck on good partners for the HE1000 in the shape of the Auralic Vega Dac and Taurus HPA as the 1000's were kicking like a mule in the bass dept. toward the end of my listening session last night. Very potent it was too..... and an unusual thing I also...- Gray

Well its early days yet but the HE1000's arrived yesterday and I spent a few hours during the day and evening putting them through their paces. I am using my Auralic Vega Dac and Auralic Taurus mk2 headphone amp to drive them....and am used to the sound of the LCD-X and the Sennheiser HD800 with...- Gray

Thanks for your input xxx1313. I have been using the Auralic Vega and Taurus combination to drive the Audeze LCD-X's...but have the HE1000 on order now. I am hoping the combination of same brand Auralic units will prove to be more than the sum of their parts as I feel they are when running the...- Gray
