    Too Many Positive Headphone Reviews

People want to believe what they want to believe especially if they spent good hard earned money on it. Remind me of something I read a few years ago that talked about how easy it is for people to find proof for whatever they are believing in. If you are constantly looking for reasons to be...

The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)

Audio Advisor has the Geek Out V2 for $249 right now. Haven't seen them on the threads that often, so this is a good chance to pick them up for some kind of a discount.   http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=LHGOV2

    Sennheiser HD650 maintenance

The rest of the headphones should be fine since there is really nothing that can break down. I'm still trying to find a site for the pads cheaper than 70 USD, but it seems like every place is pretty consistent with the price.

From Sennheiser HD 650 to HiFiMAN HE-400i... there's no way back!

I'm glad you enjoy the 400i that much. I am about to make the transition in the opposite way from the 400i to the 650. The upper mid/treble peaks on the 400i were just way too uncomfortable for me to handle, so it definitely goes to show that people have different preferences/ears.

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

Excuse me for being a newbie when it comes to the 650s, but I'm having trouble sifting through the pages to find my answers.   Can someone inform me of the revisions made to the 650s over time and the differences in both sound and presentation (such as box/driver color and such)?

    Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion

For the most part, I'm done with closed headphones unless they are used for portable/traveling usage. I had the Enigmas, and they were pretty awesome but nothing beats a good ole pair of open backed cans I think.

I am a young buck and certain regions up higher really just make me uncomfortable. All my headphone experience has been with mid-fi closed headphones for the most part, so the 400i was a good contrast. I am really interested in trying the 650s since I've heard so much about them

Yea I definitely prefer smooth signatures. Im going to try out the heralded 650s with the coin/foam mod since I already have a pair of Momentum 2s for portable use.

    Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion

I think I'm going to end up selling mine. I gave myself quite a little bit of time to get used to them, but they are just still too bright for me. I'm pretty sensitive to the upper-mid/treble region, and the sound sig just isn't for me. BTW the m9xx is a great all-in-one DAC/amp that is...

Mid-fi purgatory at its best haha. There is no escape from such a land due to the almighty law of diminishing returns!

I haven't tried that, but I have no idea how to even get the pads off without destroying something. Can anybody refer to me an instructional video or a page where it explains that?

My m9xx has shipped, so I'm looking forward to getting them in and trying them out with my 400is. Overall, I enjoy the 400i but find it a little brighter than what I'm used to. Hopefully the m9xx will tame some of the treble peaks.

Quite the contrary. I'm a poor college student, but I'm getting by since I'm a student-athlete. Most of my travels are in a cramped 12 passenger van.

Yep you definitely would not have liked the first Momentums. They were even more recessed in the treble and had smaller earpads too, so I really could not stick with them. The M2s are still treble recessed, but from what I can tell, it is at least more present compared to the first generation...

Yea I had the old Momentums and have the M2s since I needed a pair of portable cans. The M2s aren't as dark/warm as the previous version (which were way too recessed in the treble) but still are quite warm. They are very enjoyable for what I'm using them for (primarily portable/travel usage)...
