best mp3 player ? (regarding SQ only)

Looking into buying my 1st MP3 player. In terms of SQ, can someone advice me how does the latest iPod Video stack up against the Nano? My tracks are all 320 WAV files. Both models are ridiculously well made compared to anything out there.

    Xindak DAC3 MkII

My friend which loaned me the tube DAC and silver i/c just mentioned that his silver i/c is bass light, so that may have contributed partially to it. His DAC also tend to emphasis the mids - so running these thru my SET amp may not be the best option. Of course, I'm not sure if my 880...

    Xindak DAC3 MkII

The Litedac has performance credibility as they are specialized in DAC though. Too bad I have no way to audition them, as none of these models are sold where I live. I'm still pondering between a tubed or solid state like the Stello. The lack of bass slam on typical tubed design is the only...

    Xindak DAC3 MkII

Glad to hear positive feedback for the Xindak. I was initially looking for the Stello DA100 - mainly due to positive reviews plus solid & compact build. As I've just tried a friend's tube DAC with positive results, swaying a little to tube like LiteDAC 68 & the Xindak. The Xindak's...

    Xindak DAC3 MkII

Thanks, I'll look up your review. I tend to use my hardware for years & unlikely to mod, so tend to prefer something by more established companies like Cayin, Shanling & Xindak etc if i'm going for Chinese made audio products. They'll likely to have some form of QC to maintain consistency...

    Xindak DAC3 MkII

Anybody here has any experience with this DAC from Xindak? Can't seem to find any detail review on SQ. From photo, the build quality looks amzing for $300 (Cattylink) http://www.xindak.com/english/produc...ail.asp?id=230 I'm contemplating between Stello DA100 & Lite DAC68, but this looks...

    Best ~$100 USB DAC

Using the FubarII with the stock RCA cable - incredible SQ for a $100. I actually bought it on impulse - for temp use till I find a suitable DAC or CDP, so was pleasantly surprised. I drive it thru a Cayin tube head amp though, so that may have made it smoother.

Firestone Audio Fubar II USB DAC impressions

I didn't get the optional power supply but twirled the stock power cord 3 times around a piece of ferrite core - treble became more focus. Sitting the Fubar on a vibration control platform also helps tighten up the sound.

Still on the lookout. <$350 set of 'phones

I've just bought a 2006 model 880 and found it quite well isolated at moderate volume - couldn't hear normal conversations around me clearly. I paired with a SET headamp, sound is smooth, quite spacious and quite well balanced. Bass is does not have much slam but I wouldn't call it shy...

    noob question: USB DAC recommendation?

I was looking into getting a M-Audio Transit to hook up DAC or just a Stello. Stumbled upon the Fubar2. With prices slightly higher than the Transit, I took a chance and bought it. Pretty good with my Cayin SET head amp & Beyer 880. After burn-in and some isolation tweaks, sound is...

    Matching DAC for DT880 + Cayin HA-1A

Hi, I just bought the DT880 (2006 model) & a HA-01, can someone recommend me a suitable DAC? Listens mainly to mix of jazz, classical (chamber) & some occasional rock. While I don't want something too far down that don't take advantage of the downstream components, neither do I want to...
