Non-IEM headphones for sleeping?
Closed on-ear would probably be the best option. My old Sony V6 almost fits the bill, except for the massive spiral cable....But if I'm lying immobile on my back, maybe even that isn't too big a deal. Source will be an iPod or Sanza Clip, so sensitivity/impedance to match. Budget is, well...- GanChan

Non-IEM headphones for sleeping?
I have noisy upstairs neighbors, so I've been using my trusty Marshmallows to fall asleep to brown noise. But even these minimally-invasive phones are causing some ear canal irritation and may also be worsening my ear wax issues. I've tried sleeping with full-sized cans (I don't mind sleeping on...- GanChan

Affordable active noise cancellation at less-than-Bose prices?
Maybe you can help me choose the right headphones for this situation.... I work from my apartment, which obviously isn't terrific once the neighbors come home and crank up the TV. I also go on periodic "working vacations" in which I stay with a family member who likes to play the bass. In the...- GanChan

Show us your vintage headphones!
Does the Sennheiser HD590 count as vintage? I bought this 15 years ago, and they were already a refurb then. I replaced the pads a couple of years ago....- GanChan

I bought the eGrado
My scalp has been complaining recently due to headphone headband friction, so I decided to try a different type of phone for my TV/computer listening. Clip-ons never quite fit my particular ears well enough to deliver the full frequency range, so I went with the behind-the-neck eGrados. (The...- GanChan

eGrado vs. SportaPro
I'm looking at behind-the-neck headphones, but they won't really be used for sports, just hanging around the house watching movies/TV and listening to MP3s (mostly classical) and streaming audio. I want to try the behind-the-neck design due to ongoing scalp irritation and hair issues with the...- GanChan

Help me find my new headphone solution
I appreciate the suggestion -- but my wallet fell into a dead faint! I think a behind-the-neck headphone would probably solve the problem, but I'm afraid most of the affordable ones look pretty underwhelming. Maybe I should try a SportaPro? Or eGrado? I would consider clip-ons too, but...- GanChan

The current state of clip-ons?
I've been away from the clip-on headphone scene since way back in the KSC35 era -- and now I'm thinking about diving back in. But I've failed to keep up with today's headphone world. What's the current clip-on landscape look like? Is the KSC35's descendent, KSC75, still alive and kicking, and...- GanChan

Help me find my new headphone solution
I'm a longtime user of standard over-the-ear headphones, and for the last several years I've mostly used the Sony V6 and Sennheiser HD280 for daily work/movie watching, and occasionally the HD590 when my apartment complex is quiet enough to use open phones (that is to say, far too rarely)...- GanChan

Playing the recorder: Which instrument for an apartment dweller?
I used to play a lot of oboe/saxophone/clarinet in high school and college, but I wandered away from music performance for a few decades after that. I also had a basic introduction to the recorder, and now I'm thinking of getting back into that instrument just for noodling around at home. A...- GanChan

Do headphones cause or aggravate baldness?
I've been using traditional over-the-ear headphones for decades now. I've always had a pretty thick head of hair, but I notice that it's thinnest up on top -- right where the headphone band would normally sit. Have any of you noticed something similar in your dealings with headphones? Am I...- GanChan

Weird grease like material?
Is there a safe way to clean these oils off of velour pads without damaging the foam cushioning inside them? That's the part that worries me.- GanChan
